Hakuhonofan 334 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) On the 6th of February 2015, Hakuho was bestowed the highest honor "Hero of Labor" by Mongolian government, which is equivalent to Japan's People's Honor Award. The official ceremony will be held in Mongolia on the 17th of February, with Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj will personally bestow the honor himself. Hakuho would be the 6th person in Mongolia who received the honor, after Asashoryuu in 2009. Hero of Labor is a most prestigious award given to extraordinary people who contributed greatly to the nation, ones who inspired and gave people hope. His father, Jigjidiin Mönkhbat, received the same honor after winning the first Olympic medal for the country in Mexico's 1968. It would be the first time in history that the same award was given to father and son. Edited February 8, 2015 by Hakuhonofan

Hakuhonofan 334 Posted February 11, 2015 Harumafuji attended the 5th Regional Revitalization Award awards ceremony at Toshi Center Hotel, Hirakawa-cho, Tokyo on the 9th of February, 2015. He gave a 15 minutes special lecture about Mongolia and Japan Regional Development on a symposium held after the awards ceremony. He was invited to speak on this symposium by Professor Okamoto Yoshiyuki from Hosei University Graduate School of Regional Policy Design who served as the current selection committee. Harumafuji has been attending the same graduate school since last April. As the first ever "graduate yokozuna", he gave well-received intelligent lecture complete with hand-outs introducing the development of Mongolia mineral mining resources, and cited education as future challenges. He admitted later that he was quite nervous during presentation. The lecture's content was highly respecting Japan for having Mongolian people and culture welcomed and supported with gratitude, while at the same time Harumafuji was also conveying what Mongolia needs. He would like to introduce history and culture of Japan to Mongolian children, and leaving a legacy as being a goodwill ambassador between countries. He quoted his father's saying that betraying people's trust is the same as acting dead. He also admired Yukichi Fukuzawa(Japan's Voltaire)'s words : "Keiseisaimin" (経世済民), an idiom which basically meant a well-governed world is people's salvation. He imagined it would be nice to have regional development between two countries, not only to develop economy, but to have more understanding between people as well.

Hakuhonofan 334 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) During the talk show at NHK Welfare Sumo on the 11th of February, 2015, Hakuho revealed his new goal to reach 36 yusho. He's comparing his record to those of his father's, who is a 6 times Naadam champion. He said, Naadam was held once a year, while honbasho 6 times a year. So he'd be aiming to 36 winning to be able to stand at his father's level. The closer goal for Haru basho, he's aiming to be able to master Futabayama's tachiai.
