Akinomaki 41,706 Posted February 3, 2013 Kisenosato may get the Ushiku citizen honour award, if he manages ayusho. He promised one for Osaka, devoted to the late Taiho, his ichimongreat senior.(this was a quote, but I lost it by deleting the 2nd line in it - 1st line was blank):Kisenosato in his hometown Ushiku (Ibaraki) as police chief for a day on the 2nd.

krindel 687 Posted February 4, 2013 Can Yokozuna take political stances like that? I think this counts as a "Spokesperson for awareness against a crime / social problem" not a political stance...
shumitto 418 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) Can Yokozuna take political stances like that? I asked myself the same question, but my guess is that when it comes to defending the "establishment" it is publicly seen as a politically neutral action. The same goes for what Kisenosato did. They even have great meetings where they all parade together. Some have small pottery versions. One of our supporting companies sent us a cross-eyed purple pigeon -- I'm not sure what it represents. Kintamayama 47,113 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Ozeki Kotooushuu visited an elementary school and had some fun. First, he had a "draw-off" against 4 six-graders-they all had to draw "Anpanman" (looks very much like the pigs in Angry Birds..). He won the competition, drawing him quickly without looking. "Yeah, I practiced the night before, otherwise a first-grader would have beaten me.." he admitted later. He also displayed vast knowledge about the character, being in Japan 12 years and all.. He then had some "ass-sumo" (what is that?) bouts against 4th graders and lost one match, followed by some arm-sumo matches, even going simultaneously against five including a male teacher and winning.."I lost at the beginning but then thought I'd better win these.." he said. When asked by a first grader who his rival was, he answered: "I have about 800 rivals..Everyone is a rival.." shumitto 418 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Harumafuji, Takarafuji and Homarefuji went for dekeigo at Kasugano-beya today. It's a rather unusual occurence, given that the Banzuke has not yet been released. What prompted this unexpected visit was the Isegahama-oyakata, who thought it a good idea. More surprinsingly though, is that the Yokozuna declined to take part in the training citing that old ankle injury. Eventually he practiced his tachiai a total of 17 times and lent his chest, doing butsugari with Tochiozan. Ahead of the soon-to-be-resumed moshiai training Harumafuji has promised to take better care of his body [condition]. I would have loved to have had a career in something like that, i suppose demand can't be at an all time high but they are beautiful works of art, i envy their makers. yorikiried by fate 2,038 Posted February 20, 2013 A unicorn?! That's kinda topical... Must be a nod to bladerunner surely. :-) Well...no. It was referring to a unicorn's undisputed score of 9.6 on the open-ended faerieness scale. Which is kind of silly coming from me, as I am more often than not rather apologetic on behalf of Kotooshu and his sumo.
