In the games hosted under the sumogames.de unified login they've changed their name themselves, so they're showing up under the new name at the previous banzuke rank, no problem there. In the Golynohana games they've made it a lot more messy. Quad and Odd have basho registrations under Itchynotoe, but aren't active. SCS and Oracle weren't registered. All four games then received registrations and entries as a new, separate account under Panic!attheDisco, before the player apparently realized that that's not actually the name they wanted to use. Then, yet another account was registered under the intended Panic!attheDohyo name. The pre-basho games (SCS and Oracle) received different entries under the two names. Quad received identical Day 1 entries, Odd had different ones. Both dailies were only entered with the ...Dohyo account on Day 2, so I'm guessing that ...Disco has been abandoned. @Golynohana Can this mess be cleaned up? At minimum I will need the ...Disco entries removed from Oracle and Quad (dunno if the relevant people for Odd and SCS want to handle it the same way), and Quad Day 1 may need to be rescored for kanto-sho score purposes if it's not happening automatically anyway. I guess it's probably too late to merge the Itchynotoe and Panic!attheDohyo account data... I don't know if the player is also playing other games that have their own registration systems. Anyone handling one of those games may want to watch out for the changed shikona, and potentially multiple registrations. @Asashosakari I have unregistered the Disco one from all 4 games. Please take a look if things are acceptable now.
Xiongmao 24 Posted September 18 Trying to work out how ScreechingOwl was able to pick Wakamotoharu to win and Daieisho to lose in TTT. He surely must have picked two other lads?? First time I've seen that bug. @Jakusotsu

As I suspected, Day 1 will still need to be rescored altogether, the Disco entry is still included in there. However, while checking for that I noticed that the player also made a Day 1 submission under their old Itchynotoe name, before they apparently reconsidered and put that account into kosho mode. That account does not show in the overall standings, just on the Day 1 details: Jimizakura l 2 0.70 0 Asanoyama Kinbozan Onokatsu Shishi itchynotoe l 2 0.68 0 Asakoryu Roga Shirokuma Tamashoho Mariohana l 2 0.68 0 Asakoryu Ryuden Shirokuma Tamashoho Panic!attheDohyo l 2 0.68 0 Asakoryu Roga Shirokuma Tamashoho Panic!attheDisco l 2 0.68 0 Asakoryu Roga Shirokuma Tamashoho Holleshoryu l 2 0.65 0 Asakoryu Fujiseiun Tamashoho Tomokaze Can we remove that one as well, please, before the rescoring? Oskanohana 361 Posted September 18 Not a game bug per se, but the sumogames.de sites are giving me an "expired certificate" error. It's easy to get around it, but it's annoying.

Xiongmao 24 Posted September 19 Quad and Odd results didn't grab. @Golynohana

I was just waiting in case the certificate is being updated or something. It kicked me out while I was doing my TTT picks and I thought the universe was punishing me for voting against Chiyoshoma yesterday
Xiongmao 24 Posted September 19 Looks a lot more serious than the usual temporary glitch. Does anyone have Doitsuyama's email? Drop him a quick line if you do. He probably wouldn't notice a tag on here until it's too late.
Kajiyanosho 66 Posted September 19 Things are not looking great for me. Still unable to do Bench, TTT, ISP and Toto.
Xiongmao 24 Posted September 19 Seems likely it's connected to the security certificate issue. It could be a nightmare, with everyone posting their picks on the forum before the deadline. We need the knight in shining armour Doitsuyama to save the day.
Bunbukuchagama 976 Posted September 20 What do we do? Bench lineups can be entered here, I guess, but other games might be a problem.
Xiongmao 24 Posted September 20 1 minute ago, Bunbukuchagama said: What do we do? Bench lineups can be entered here, I guess, but other games might be a problem. You'll just have to enter all the line-ups here and hope the admins have time to put them through at some point. Quad is a bit tricky because it's down and I can't remember who I've already picked so I'll have to write a list in order of priority. Odd i can just miss a day. ISP just use the auto pick. The others can be done no problem (although Toto is laborious for everyone involved). I've said it several times before but we need a more decentralised system for access to the games for these eventualities. We have a big resource of helpful people here who would be happy to step in and help in any way (myself included obviously).

I host the Superbanzuke site myself and would be only too happy to host the games there too but someone would have to transfer all the data over for me as I don't have those skills. I think it would be better for the game sites to be separate from the database so it's not an absolute nightmare when the database goes down.

The issue of separation is twofold: 1. Some games are hosted on the same platform as SumoDB itself. 2. Games use SumoDB data to function. I think an alternative database already exists and can be used in case of emergency; and hosting of games would obviously be safer in a more distributed way. Shiroiokami 15 Posted September 20 The big question now is are the people who run the different games going to call a mulligan on the day(s) sumodb is down? Hate to get punished because I spent the day with my family and not immediately putting my picks down first thing in the morning.

But you can post your picks here before the deadline at least.

SumoDB went down 4.5 hours ago. If it doesn't come back, we'll get 7-8 hours of downtime before the deadline. You cannot seriously say "FU" to everyone who hasn't submitted their picks before that.

I don't like it either. The worst thing is that this is absolutely preventable.

Still, we should expect some level of basic functionality from games we play. And yes, it can be assured in the 21st century.
