Highly unlikely. The kesho mawashi are from the Kinki regional Miyagino koenkai.

I was wondering what happened to the sponichi sumo news, they were only on yahoo.

Checking the general sports pages I found some more pictures.

The 2 yokozuna and 4 ozeki made the yearly shrine visit to the Atsuta Jingu, after that the dohyo-iri by the 2 yokozuna (first time there for HF), about 4000 watched.
Not the riji-cho, again in bad shape because of fatigue. The birthday program on TBS about his kanreki dohyo-iri reported the operation of his rectal cancer February last year, maybe this causes the frequent bad shape of his. He plans to attend the doyho matsuri on the 6th.

The Kyokai posted one more picture from Kitanoumi's kanreki dohyo-iri, announcing that he would be the feature of TBS's Birthday programme today (June 22nd).

I notice that this dohyo-iri is done in sand. Got me thinking. What if the regular basho dohyo face was itself only sand over a clay base, and not strictly clay? Was it like that originally? Further thinking.. How such a soft surface would affect different rikishi in their techniques. Might help some, hinder others. Would maybe be like beach volleyball.

The surface of the dohyo is covered by sand. That's why we get the occasional slippiotoshi win.

After the dohyo-iri, spectators were allowed to take some sand from the 'dohyo' as a souvenir.

Kisenosato drinking the sacred sake prepared by the miko in the back

The riji-cho went to a hospital for checking on internal diseases.

I think he meant, what it if was that loose?

It used to be, back before the first kokugikan was built and sumo was still done outdoors. You can see it in old films. It must have been quite an adjustment when they changed to a harder-packed surface.

Does Kotooshu have a black eye?

Looks like...

Hm... maybe a perfect reason to go kyujo?

I like the Lions kesho mawashi set that Harumafuji and his attendants are wearing.
