Ryunokaze 0 Posted October 5, 2003 Asashoryu beat Kotonowaka to win the one day event in Nagoya, today. Other good performances came from Kotomitsuki,Buyuzan and Toki. Toki showed some very spirited tsuki to beat Chiyotaikai who couldn`t form a defense and went out backwards. Kotomitsuki looked very good with his solid tachiai and thinking sumo until he was beaten by Asashoryu one step short of the final. Musashimaru was beaten in the second round by Buyuzan who also beat Kaio in the next round(from my hazey memory). All the best.

Kintamayama 47,140 Posted October 5, 2003 Asashouryuu won the Nagoya one day tournament for the second time. He won it two years ago as well. He beat Kotomitsuki and Kotonowaka in a playoff, beating them both by Oshidashi. Asashouryuu beat Touki in the semifinals by shitatenage. His purse-3 million yen ($27,000). Musashimaru was beaten in the third round.
Onnagumo 4 Posted October 5, 2003 Asashoryu beat Kotonowaka to win the one day event in Nagoya, today. Yessss! Lately I have been wondering if Kotonowaka had started training again. This means that not only he is back in training, but he also participated in this tournament, and he even did well enough to be in the playoff. Great news! (Clapping wildly...) Kintamayama 47,140 Posted October 5, 2003 Takanowaka won the Juryo tournament. "I like Nagoya, so I took each bout at a time and did my best to win", said Asashouryuu. Last year, he clinched the Ozeki berth in Nagoya, which is a good omen for him. OTOH, all that strife with Shoes on happened in Nagoya as well, and of course, his first ever kyujo. "The atmosphere was great, and the fans seemed to be happy," he added with satisfaction. "I'd like to do good keiko,", he said, getting ready for Aki Jungyo. Zenjimoto 40 Posted October 6, 2003 Yes, yes... there is nothing wrong with liking Kotonowaka (Clapping wildly...) I realized I missed his minute bouts this time around :-D I would guess he'd win a "least hateable rikishi" poll (Clapping wildly...) Cheers Z.
