Genki was a term I heard a lot during my time in Japan, but I never see it used much now. It is an amazingly versatile word. Teru is likely to drop a couple, a couple of guys like Takaysu and Shimanoumi have good head to heads against him, and I don't think any of the other sanyaku are good enough to go higher than 13. Part of me would love to see Hakuho go 15-0 lead a collective clap, say "Dad's home" and mic drop walk off though...... Got reasonably close in the last paragraph
Kaminariyuki 519 Posted July 18, 2021 Well, we got what many of us were hoping for, an extraordinary finish. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll dig through the thread but I remember that several folks called this result. It was the favored, if actually improbably, outcome. It was, indeed, epic. Kaminariyuki 519 Posted August 26, 2021 Well, the Nagoya basho is water well under the bridge, but just to give the masters of prognostication their due: Washuyama easily takes the prize last basho, predicting Hakuho's zensho-yusho and only off by one on Terunofuji's jun-yusho. He did also inadvertently predict that Hakuho would be on his way out "with a bang!" Technically Hakuhonofan would get a tie since I did not request the extra info. You just have to love how close Washuyama was to a perfect prediction though. Fukuyamada gets a special note for also calling Hakuho's zensho-yusho. Hakuryuho and Stelios also predicted Hakuho to lift the cup. Really this isn't a competition or it would be in the Polls somehow. I like the open format, though, so let's see if anyone wants to give it another roll.
