If it were not of my disdain toward personality cults, I would be on the verge of creating a new thread just listing all the gaming records that Pandaazuma breaks. Just for this basho it is:

- most points ever in any Masters competition (he eclipsed my old record by a little bit more than half a point, clocking in a 108.91)

- (probably) the best pre-basho performance in history, with 86.50 points (I have to double-check on that, but it's almost guaranteed)

- getting points in 14 different games. Again, I am pretty sure that this is unprecedented.

- the best GTB performance in history.

Amazing... Watching the bouts with Simon, I began to get a grasp on what makes him such an outstanding daily gamer. I still have to uncover his secret for pre-basho gaming...

Later edit: ok, some laurels too many... There have been two players with 90+ pre-basho points. And Gurowake also had a basho with 14 performances among the Top 10. And still, congrats on a remarkable achievement!

Remarkably, not a single Centipede in the top two divisions is unbeaten. We have to look to Ronnie and Steve in Makushita to fly that particular flag for the moment. Already seeing some bad luck for Gary and Renaud.

A big improvement for the Panda today, with only my most hated rikishi (Ishiura) ruining a win in ISP. I lost in Bench too but a win was impossible there against a 9-win GBL. The rest was fine. I am still not happy with my picking so am hoping for a decent couple of days so I can settle into the right rhythm of the basho.

Pre-basho is a mixed bag. My risky picks look generally OK but they have yet to really shine yet. FS, Oracle and Salarycap are all early hopes.

And, of bloody course, I beat Scott today when it doesn't matter in SG. I'll never understand that curse! Grrrrr!

Now 0 out of 6 selected rikishi in Odd have won.  Also out of Chaingang on day 2.  The tiebreak loss in SG is the only other loss on day 2, so it's a very nice start to the basho.

A tricky day. Seb was involved in a 6-2 win, which tells its own story. Ronnie's good run went to sheeyit as he posted only three points today but is still looking OK at 2-1. Steve is now our only unbeaten lad. He dispatched his third straight drone. Ah, lower Makushita...

The brutal luck is continuing, with many players 3 AAD against. This could be a long basho...

A very poor day for Panda. The only good point was a lucky win over Owl in Bench. Tamawashi is killing me there so I needed the upset of Takakeisho today. SG is just silly...I keep losing against the odds. My opp today had a miracle comeback capped off with Takayasu's upset. What can a panda do? I also lost the Baka Cup to go 1-2. The only other ray of light was surviving in Chain. Still shedloads of people left though. I suspect it will be day seven or eight before we see Masters points potential.

Overall I'm just not getting into the rhythm of things at all. Need to get a run going. I'm not actually picking too badly, and some pre-basho games show a little promise, but it's not a classic by any means.

Back to normality? Or is your immortal status gone? I assume some other players might be a bit relaxed to finally meet a weak Panda  ;-)

Just a bad start, and the prebasho scene is pretty mixed. One of those wait and see bashos, I suspect. If I get over 30 points, I will be very happy. 40: Overjoyed. ;)

A real mixed bag. Gary and Miyako are getting brutal opposition but they're not helping their causes with low scoring. Scott, Rupe and Owl have our best records at 3-2. And a special mention for Renaud, who will be fuming that the judges robbed Okinoumi today.

Stefan got another win and stays in positive territory. Unko hasn't got started yet. Steve keeps on winning in Makushita, albeit against very weak opposition.

As I expected, this is looking like a basho of extremes. I have good chances in Norizo Cup, Salarycap and Fantasy Sumo. Also doing OK in Odd Sumo now thanks to a nice little bet today. Been unlucky in SG but it was nice to win strongly today. Managed a Baka Cup win over a very strong Scott as well. 2-3 there.

A heartbreaking tiebreak loss on the third bench rikishi in Bench for 4-1 there (in what must have been a highlight-reel bout with another 4-0 player).  A fairly mixed day otherwise, with a strong day in DST, and now in a four-way tie at 5-0 in TTT.

In the pre-bashos, I'm hovering at 2nd in Salarycap, and now 9th in POG and 6th in Bingo.  Also tied for 4th in FS.  I usually struggle for pre-basho points, so I'll hope I end up with at least... one point at the end of the basho.

A pretty good day overall but I've been so abysmal that it is unlikely to lead to Masters points at the end. Quad is hilarious - I'm dead last and can't catch a break. Damage control there. Slowly improving in some games, but I'll need a strong second week even just for small change in most games. Pre-basho is pretty much a write-off, with my unorthodox picks looking pretty average and the orthodox lads flying. Only Norizo Cup, Salarycap and Oracle look viable at this stage.

Sad, sad, sad tiebreak losses in SG AND Bench (for 3-3 and 4-2, respectively) plus the usual loss in Odd were the only things standing in the way of a perfect day 6.  But now in a three-way tie at 6-0 in TTT, and just outside the top 10 in DST.

After 6 Days Haru'19 looks fine so far. Despite not playing Sumo Game (missed the deadline) I can really say that the dailies so far are successful. 4-2 in Bench is just one win behind the three co-leaders. Within the top 10 in DST, 5-1 in Toto, 4-2 in S4, one of three unbeaten Rikishi in TTT and one of 7 survivors in Chain Gang, i.e. already 4 SB masters points minimum in the bag. Pre-basho results depend on Ikioi. Obviously I'm the only one who thought he would be fit again... Nevertheless chances for SB points in Roto, SalaryCap and Juryo Game. Any Yusho would be very welcome  (Zabutonflying...)

Panda overcame a very stubborn and lucky drone to go into positive territory for the first time. Scott prevailed in a close one to also improve to 4-3. Gary finally gets his first win...in style as well, with a very impressive 9. Chanko and Seb had bad luck losses. Rupe was rubbish...hope he is tomorrow as well as he is fighting Panda. Owl is the TB king as he goes to 5-2 and very much in the yusho race. Mark picked up a much-needed win at the expense of Kuroimori. Renaud and Sergio both won but need another one for parity.

Stefan is grinding out wins and is now 4-3. Unko is having a nightmare. In Makushita, Steve is still perfect with two others. Jezz won to go 4-3. And Ronnie lost a tie and needs to turn things round.

Not a bad day but it was blemished by a change of pick that lost me TTT...one of the few games I am doing well in. Annoying. My Bench team is killing me as most days I couldn't even win with a GBL so this basho looks a write-off there. Improving nicely in Tipspiel, SG and Toto and a strong second week could see me do OK there. Pre-basho is a total write-off now. Small chances in Juryo Game, Norizo Cup and Salarycap exist and Oracle is probably my best bet as long as Mitakeumi gets 7 or less. Basically, I need to do well in the dailies to get my target of 30. And I snuck a tight win over Scott and am now 4-3 in the Baka Cup.

With the usual exception of Odd and another heartbreaking loss (this time in TTT), it's another clean sweep on day 7!  (Okay, and maybe a middling day in DST.) (And a loss in the Baka Cup.)

After day seven, I have only five losses between SG and Bench, and all five were tiebreak losses.

Still just outside the top 10 in DST.  A 10-way tie for the yusho in Bench.  A large tie for 4th in Quad.  A 9-way tie for 3rd in SG (one win behind the leaders).  And now a four-way tie for the jun-yusho in TTT.

3rd after day 6 in Salarycap.  2nd in POG.  3rd in Bingo.  3-way tie for 3rd in FS.

Might I actually have a sliver of a chance to finish a basho ahead of the Panda??

For over a year now, I've watched some promising runs turn into nothing, or close enough to nothing.  You may only have to beat 3 points or so!
