Not sure if this will work, but those with access to Facebook may be able to see some photos taken by a friend of mine during a kids sumo tournament in Itami City back in May. I'll look for a way to post individual pics. Where is a good place to host?

Goeido - Mitakeumi and others were there as well - on the 2nd in a primary school in Toyosato-town, Shiga. They had their 50th sumo tournament: for the 6th year, girls and boys have their separate tournaments with the winners as yokozuna. http://www.chunichi.co.jp/article/shiga/20160703/CK2016070302000019.html

Rikishi with girls only seems to be a recent trend (in the media)

Tatsunami-beya has a training camp at Tairadate high school in Hachimantai-city, Iwate. Like the last years they visited the local Yoriki nursery to show sumo to the kids. The Hachimantai YouTube channel is full fo sumo:

Tatsunami rikishi this year, last year, 2 years ago, 3 years ago.

The nursery kids also went to the high school sumo club to get some sumo lessons: this year, last year.

And they were invited to the 2nd Kids Ozumo Kajo-central basho in Yamagata-city - planned for their stay. About 100 primary school kids, in groups of 4-7 against a rikishi. http://yamagata-np.jp/news/201608/16/kj_2016081600314.php

The other ozeki hoping for the first yusho this time canceled degeiko to prevent the strained back from occurring again. Kotoshogiku        was

at a primary school sumo tournament held in commemoration of 10th yokozuna Unryu from that Fukuoka area (Yanagawa). Local Kotoshogiku won that tournament in his 5th and 6th year.
The winner also got as “Kotoshogiku award” from him a mountain bike.

For this year, in which the yusho hope got fulfilled, Kotoshogiku has donated a new yusho flag to the tournament, which started in 1988, always on Culture Day. His father on the 31st had handed it over to the mayor on his behalf. http://www.nishinippon.co.jp/nnp/f_chikugo/article/286003

Only talk about sumo for the kids came from Musashigawa-oyakata and Kotoshogiku, at places near their heya lodgings in Kyushu - and they gave the kids some fun by talk about eating (which is what the kids apparently are the most interested in):

ex-Musashimaru at a primary schools in Iizuka, about why he entered sumo: "Because I could eat chanko for free." http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/sports/sumo/20161105-OYT1T50120.html

he seems to have his top weight again

20161105-OYT1I50044-L.jpg

Kotoshogiku had a talk-show in the Daimaru department store in Fukuoka-city and got asked by the kids about his favorite food: "Chanko and white rice." - and how much? "In the past to build my body 5 ramen bowls full of it, now about 2 (usual) rice bowls: I felt I mustn't have more kg than cm (179), and because I'm just about to cross that line, (a diet) to avoid at least this of all things."

Ex-Homasho like last year was guest at a kids tournament on the 3rd at the Iminomiya shrine in his hometown Shimonoseki - as a kid this was the first sumo tournament he took part in.

Osunaarashi on the 6th had keiko with kids at the sumo ground of a shrine in Kanzaki city, Saga. http://www.saga-s.co.jp/news/saga/10105/374515

Dewahayate on the 5th did sumo with kids at a primary school in Ogi city, Saga, the hometown of Oginohana I, the father of Dewanoumi-(Oginohana II) and Nakadachi-oyakata (Oginishiki), organized by the heya's (oyakata's) Ogi koenkai. Several very different recent events for the kids.

Only talk about sumo from KONISHIKI on the 21st last month at a primary school in Minami-Awaji (Terutsuyoshi's home), as part of the city's "Dream Project". http://www.kobe-np.co.jp/news/awaji/201611/0009687602.shtml

And the usual stuff by Amakaze & co. On the 29th at a primary school in Tara-town - local former Ieda and for Kyushu nearby located Oguruma-beya cooperated to realize this. http://www.nishinippon.co.jp/nnp/saga/article/293253

Hitachigo and Fujitaisei on the 25th&26th last month visited several nursery schools and other facilities in Ogano-town and Chichibu-city. Ogano local ex-Tsurugidake had planned the thing: he now runs the family ryokan and wants to give something back to the locals who had given him a kesho-mawashi etc. http://www.saitama-np.co.jp/news/2017/01/27/11.html
