Gurowake 4,158 Posted July 29, 2014 What aren't you holding your breath for? I am confused. Is this speculation that Goeido should get a 13-2 to justify his promotion or? I'm just saying that he would require a quite exceptional score to "justify" his promotion immediately as was the case with Kisenosato.
Asameshimae 220 Posted July 29, 2014 I have thought about that when I consider the days where there was more parity in makuuchi. The kyokai must have been giving away a lot of money for kinboshi..
Asameshimae 220 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Anyone notice all the henka? Okay, at least all the henka by the likes of Takekaze and Kyokutaisei. I have long had a place in my heart for both of these guys, but especially near the end, they were basically doing (or at least attempting) a henka every bout. Regardless of opinions about its fairness how long did they expect this to work? Eventually no one is going to be fooled and you merely risk losing quickly yourself. I was amazed Kisenosato seemingly did not see the henka coming from Takekaze on day 12. Anybody who had been watching that tournament must have seen how many henka Takekaze had pulled up to that point. I assume rikishi watch opponents' bouts to get an idea of what they will face no? Kyokutaisei was possibly worse with all the henka, though I would have to see all the vids to confirm he pulled even more henka than Takekaze in his juryo debut. ALAKTORN 346 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) I didn’t know where to post this so I’m posting it here but… I just realised I started following sumō just 1 basho after Kyokutenhō’s historical win, hah. Barely missed it. Edited August 1, 2014 by ALAKTORN
