Video Stream - Availability

Recommended Posts

UBS Global is alive again and it appears to be doing very well. The stream is now being handled by On Air, and it appears that they keep about a 6 day archive of its programming. On the right, there is a program schedule for the current and recently passed days. You can watch live programming or you can find the old program you want to watch in the schedule, double click on it and watch the archived copy. This should allow for live or delayed viewing of the NHK makuuchi match coverage (with Mongolian commentary). It will be interesting to see how this plays out in March.

Note: UBS Global goes off air from about 1AM to 7AM. Don't panic if you get a black screen during that time period.

Note 2: The scheduled start times on the right are approximate; UBS is not known for starting programs on the hour or half-hour. You may have to pause the archive and play with the time slider to find the start of the program you want. In the past, UBS has picked up its sumo coverage at about 5 or 10 minutes after the hour.

Note 3: The video image quality has not improved. The resolution leaves a bit to be desired, and the video occasionally gets is jerky.

Wow! That archive thingy sounds great!

I hope it will be available for the Ozumo broadcast as well and not exempted due to broadcasting right restrictions.

And once again: Way to go NHK Online! Learn a lesson or two from UBS Mongolia...

Just discovered these Niji-problems. After the upgrade (and several restarts) I only get CNN and other english channels. Crap!

Suddenly, Niji is working perfectly again.

Fingers crossed, tied, gagged, bolted, stapled and whatever.

Niji is not working right now. Can not sign in or nothing. It just reload it self and nothing happens. We hope that Niji WILL work to the next coming Haru Basho in Osaka then !!!
Ore was it wish-thinking perhaps ? (Roho...)

I can log in, but none of the streams actually works. I will be in Japan for the most time, but for the first days I thank god for Kintamayama and Jason.

It's going to be really difficult as usual, the way things look right now..

UBS Global has sumo scheduled for the timeframe of the makuuchi matches. It also has a short sumo program at midnight which may be NHK's summary of the day's matches.

Note: Corrected post.

No luck on UBS. Sumo is shown in the schedule starting at 3PM, but it is not being picked up. Niji has sumo with the 15-30 minute shutdowns. For those not getting sumo on Niji, it might help to reinstall the current version.

Sumo should be on, but NIJI is "coming soon": doesn't look good today.
