I'm surprised no-one has started this poll yet, but better late than never....

Will the Yokozuna continue his phenom streak? How well will he do???

Is he great (destined for 10+ Yusho)?; is he greater than recent Yokozuna (Akebono, Musashimaru and Takanohana (okay, Wakanohana, if you insist))?; is he the greatest? (better than Futabayama, Taiho and my friend Chiyonofuji)?

Look forward to hearing all thoughts on the subject....

i voted 14-1 but cannot really tell who is going to beat him.

Statistically speaking he could even lose by a slip tomorrow to Shimotori.

I am pretty sure he will get the yusho but a loss is very possible too.

@Jejima-san:

please don't start topics like "Who is the better of all time Asa-Taiho-Chiyonofuji-etc ? ". I sense there is no way we can talk this and end up with a civilised thread........ :-D

ok....don't mind me.....on to the massacre !!!!!!!

(I am with smart...)

14-1, he'll slip up against someone.

as to where he fits in with the Yokozuna of the past decade or so, I'd say that we have a long way to go, but I think that Takanohana/Asashoryu will be considered 1/2, maybe not in that order. But it is tough to compare.

There's a long way to go before talking about greatest ever.

And this poll has kind of already been conducted in the other poll ("The Streak") that asks how many consecutive matches he'll win.

I voted 13-2, because of the way the stars outside my window are aligned right now.

I'm hoping for another perfect record!

Same here. Just a feeling.

By the same feeling- I say he will win 15-25 yushos. Aside from Rensho record, he would be placed something like (Chiyonofuji + Kitanoumi) /2.

Things is, at 23 he has not had major injuries yet(might never see one hopefully). Most of wrestlers, even the strong ones, had some adjustments in their fighting style to accommodate some injury related "disabilities". Some do it well and keep the edge but others lose it, some even fatally.

I do acknowledge his body is exceptionally "flexible" and perhaps lot less prone for injury. But Sumo is an injury sport and you never know.

He-he-he! Many people want to see Asa lose. To be honest, I was thinking that he would not be able to continue winning forever, but especially in the current basho I dont see anyone with the capability and the mental power to beat him. Just look once more how he pulled Shimotori s leg and then place your vote!15-0! (Applauding...) :-/ :-( :-/ (Sign of approval)

Naturally, when a strong favorite is upset most people couldn't see it coming. That's part of the definition of an upset :-P Nonetheless, someone will do it some day.

No way! A wimpy lower ranked rikishi could NEVER defeat the Blue Dragon! ;-)

Perhaps this poll should be closed. That 11% has risen to 15% since the basho ended. :-D
