Ootake's gambling debt is 30,000,000 yen, say sources close to the count. He used to gamble daily on Baseball when in season except during bashos. His bets were entered by Kotomitsuki. He even bet hundreds of thousands of yen at once, says the story. When Kotomitsuki attempted to claim Ootake's 5,000,000 yen winnings, he was blackmailed, and from there it all went south.

Another small-time baseball gambler revealed: Shironoryu. Given that he just secured promotion to juryo he's probably quite happy he didn't get hit with the suspension hammer.

Edit: There were supposedly 7 such rikishi including the 3 known makuuchi (Yoshikaze, Kakizoe, Kotoshogiku).

Today with the suspended rikishi gone and the kyujo the dohyoiri were almost a joke. The boys were walking around wondering how far away to stand... It was strange!

To whoever was wondering what happened to these two-they are slated to be dismissed from sumo (kaiko) at the special meeting of the gambling investigation committee on Thursday. They both handed in their retirement papers in July, but the Kyokai did not accept them.
