Asojima 2,874 Posted September 17, 2008 The videos are being provided by Ngozi Robinson. For those of us who are cretins using IE7, how do we get the videos to play via a left click. All I get is a blank browser screen. If I right click the URL and download it, I can play it using VLC or Realplayer, but I then have a cleanup process to do. I would prefer to play them directly without going thru the download.
crall 2 Posted September 17, 2008 Considering the video clips are .mov files, the easiest way would probably be to install Quick Time. Or do as I and use Quick Time Alternative. The videos work perfectly for me in IE 7, FF 3 and Opera 9.52.
Jakusotsu 6,389 Posted September 17, 2008 Like Crall said, QuickTime Alternative is the most easy way to go. It comes with a very nice player, too, which I prefer over VLC. And by the way, I find the title of this thread slightly offensive. :-D
Blue_Wolf 24 Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) Hurai, hurai, hurai Long live Ngozi Robinson :-D Edited September 17, 2008 by Blue_Wolf
Kaikitsune Makoto 210 Posted September 17, 2008 Yes it is very nice. You do realise though that it is likely that the person/persons of various interesting personality features will probably inform police, embassies, NSK, NHK about this and soon Ms Ngozi will be threathened with law suits, fines, urine tests and such things? Well Ms Ngozi has one ace in sleeve so to speak.

HenryK 38 Posted September 18, 2008 Day 4 videos are up - I should get day 5 up in 7 hours or so... Brilliant, thank you. If you sit in the US with just a computer like me, coverage can be hard to get -- especialy as my habitual source is on vacation.

Seeing as how there have been no makuuchi matches posted on the site for a year, it's not that unreasonable a title. rizarudo 0 Posted September 18, 2008 Day 5 vids are up, I think I've caught all the many many mattas that occurred as well - call it a morbid fascination... http://www.banzuke.com/~makuuchi/aki08.html
sekihiryu 51 Posted September 19, 2008 thanks! I forgot to set the HDD-R to record the live broadcast and then I set it to record the sumo digest early in the morning, but NHK had typhoon news on instead - so this was my last chance!

Otokonoyama 2,735 Posted September 19, 2008 The Chiyotaikai-Kotoshogiku bout doesn't seem to be working (no problem with the other vids). Anyone else experiencing the same 404 error, or is the problem on my end? :-P

mokele 3 Posted September 19, 2008 At 1st I was confused and couldn't make the videos play, but then I monkeyed with some things and now I can see the little videos, although not very well. They often end prematurely and you don't even see the winning technique. I use the KM-player (kmplayer.en.softonic.com/) , copy the URL for the video, and then load it onto the KM-player. If you use a Macintosh it's probably easier, since they are quick-time videos. I tried using Real Player and it didn't work, although Real Player usually will play videos with the " .mov " extension. Anyway, great thanks and appreciation goes to Ngozi Robinson. Even if we can't see the end of all the bouts, we can at least see the tachi-ai! Some of the bouts play well enough to see the whole thing, but I don't know why.

Some of the bouts are cut off right after someone wins, without showing the guys going back and bowing. As for opening .mov files, you can't live without Quicktime Alternative, a lean mean machine. rizarudo 0 Posted September 19, 2008 the Chiyotaikai-Kotoshogiku bout links should now work. Thanks for the heads up on that. I try to make the length of the bouts I post as brief as possible, for file size concerns, both in terms of online space they take up and length of time to load for the viewer - from tachi-ai (or these days, from matta) to win, no ceremony. Now if I can get quicktime off of my system, I'm in business.
