Jinmaku (Fujinoshin) turns 65 before Kyushu and for his last basho before retirement was guest today on NHK. In the end asked about plans from now on, extension and remaining as sanyo was not among them - he'll visit the grave of the shisho (Kitanofuji) and thanks the sumo world he leaves.

Always fun and difficult to try and guess how the inheritances will play out, assuming Fujinoshin follows through here. Jinmaku has been in Takasago ichimon for a long time and it is such a small ichimon with a while before another connected title comes through. I wonder if one of the Kokonoe guys would be in line, perhaps Chiyomaru who is still competitive at the top of Makushita but doesn't look to be very threatening at getting back to Juryo. I have Chiyomaru below my kabu cutoff but perhaps the timing could work out for him here (or for Chiyonoo, although his resume is not even close at the current logjam standard). Maybe more likely is for it to get lent to the holder of Endo or Shimanoumi's title and then passed out later to Chiyoshoma or even Asanoyama?

On the 29th, Otake and Kumagatani switched names and the new Otake (Tamaasuka) took over as shisho in Otake-beya. https://www.sumo.or.jp/IrohaKyokaiInformation/detail?id=718

The new Kumagatani (Dairyu) turned 65 on the 30th and became sanyo, now on the bottom of the oyakata list.

Today old and new Otake visited the grave of Taiho to report the change

The DB still hasn't recorded the transfer of Kumagatani to Otake-beya

I haven't seen an official announcement but Kumagatani has now transferred to Otake-beya ahead of his takeover following the Aki basho. According to this  Nikkan article, in which he runs the rule over the rikishi of the heya, the transfer happened on September 1st.

I keep mixing up Kitajin with Jinmaku, who leaves the NSK on the 6th

The duties list has been updated with the Kitajin swap.

The former one, ex-Tenkaiho, was a member of the sumo school department, so that opened up a spot that needed filling somewhat urgently since the school oyakata are also tasked with assisting with mono-ii and kimarite decisions from the video room. So, say hello to your new sumo school teacher and kimarite official: Iwatomo, the former Aoiyama. Don't know about anyone else, but I was a bit surprised to find out. (Might he be the first naturalized oyakata to work this role?) For anyone wondering, I'll include that the other sumo school department members are the former Oikari, Ishiura and Kotoyuki. Other than ex-Oikari that's a very young group right now; everybody else is still at the lowest rung of the oyakata hierarchy, toshiyori.

The new Kitajin, the freshly retired Endo, has unsurprisingly joined the oyakata list in a kabu owner position (so above the four oyakata who are acknowledged borrowers*). He has been placed in what's the default job setting for rookie oyakata nowadays, guidance department plus membership in the social contributions group.

* Incidentally, for the DB I'll note that ex-Tokushoryu's shift from borrower to owner has yet to be implemented there (see comments here).

Am not able to react at the moment, so "thanks!" via this comment. Is updated now.

I'm majorly nitpicking, but can the change be dated to no later than May 15 as the "started as owner" date? We don't have the exact date, but we do know it was acknowledged by that date (even if just implicitly; as per the linked comments it appeared alongside Hokutofuji's addition).

Makes absolute sense, changed now. (A quick glance at the date of Yubinhaad's report made it as quickly the final "as of" in my head.)

Jinmaku kept his cards close to his chest - he is now listed among the sanyo.

I did see a lot of people saying how much they enjoyed that not-so-final appearance on NHK, they should have him back.
