    UDH Aki Basho 2020

Hello gamers, the UDH entry form is ready now, and waiting for your selections. Rules in a (very small) nutshell: Guess the thirteen makuuchi rikishi you expect to have the fewest wins this basho. You may submit your entry at http://udh.seisa.de/udh_index.html. Once you have selected your team, please root for them as much as you can. The game was not intended to honor any failure, but to stimulate interest in the less successful rikishi. The deadline for your entries will be the first day of the basho (Sunday, September 13th) at 12pm Japanese Time. Good luck! 5. Would not bet on him. See, what you call "Takasago" today is actually "Wakamatsu" while rather the entity you are calling "Nishikido" is the continuation of "Takasago". When the former Takasago[6] (Fujinishiki) retired in 2002, Nishikido (Mitoizumi) would have already been a clear choice. Being the most senior rikishi after Konishiki's departure and also acting oyakata during Fujinishiki's illness - and then doing a good job - he would have been the natural choice. Instead the ichimon picked Wakamatsu[11] (Asashio) to become the new Takasago and merge the two heya. The rationale for that was flimsy, and some even say it was only a matter of money, lots of money. The new giga-heya was then located in Asashio's building while Mitoizumi branched out some months later and moved into the old Fujinishiki facilities. With all the scandals surrounding Asashio during the last decade, it would be a nice but late retribution if the ichimon decided on Mitoizumi now, but I really cannot imagine it.

    Sumo Reference Updates

I think there is a little mishap in maezumo of July: Two Sadogatake men with all-to-similar name and all-to-similar rikishi-id were banzukegai before the basho. Re-appearing was Kototaiko (11860) after a 4 basho absence, now in September listed at Jk34. Not re-appearing was Kototaiki (11760), also missing 4 basho in a row but still listes as Bg now in September. Maezumo rank 2020.07 and all maezumo bouts 2020.07 are credited to the wrong man (11760), though.

As I said earlier - you forget a lot after one basho pause. I, for example, forgot that I will be on a vacation without any access to my files from tomorrow on. The next update will thus come only some days after the end of the basho. Sorry for that.

Day 14 Standings Final Standings Do you know what has been the strangest thing in this basho for me? Not, not the empty stadium. It was reading the shikona "Kotonowaka" again in UDH after 15 years. How time flies...
