Kintamayama 47,222 Posted December 22, 2004 (edited) Sanyaku question solved-only three Sekiwake. Mickey and Hakuhou Komusubi. Kotoshoogiku, Aminishiki, Toyonoshima, Tochisakae and Harunoyama promoted. That's all I know. Someone should be posting the full BZ soon.. Elenrian 0 Posted December 23, 2004 Nooo! They'll wait!!! You know, sometimes they do odd things!!! For example, Hakuho is only West Komusubi!! Perhaps they did it to have a nice shonichi!! But this bout should be for Senshuraku!!! Weird, very weird... (Matrix...)

I almost hope he does, so I can watch it live. I don't get off work till 6:30 and it takes me another hour and a half to get home.

But I've been extremely wrong on torikumi matters before, so... Edited December 30, 2004 by Asashosakari
Jonosuke 28 Posted December 31, 2004 (edited) I know posting a pic like this will blow my storage quota (even after resizing it considerably) but take a look at him now! Wow! When I got the magazine, I thought I was looking at someone else like a yokozuna from an older era. Hakuho really grew and he does already look like an Ozeki if not Yokozuna. There is a Japanese word that can aptly descirbe him, "Kanroku" meaning a presence or dignity and he does have that of yokozuna already. "無限大" means "infinite" - they sure got the description right - a 19 year old with infinite possibility! Edited December 31, 2004 by Jonosuke
Ryukaze 0 Posted December 31, 2004 I just hope he stays in for the long haul and isnt washed up or sick of the "grind" as a rikishi by the rediculously young age of say 27,28 and up and retire. Any true "Ironmen" of the sport have kept their bodies healthy and in shape to compete at top level well into their thirties which I think should be the aim of all rikishi, if guys in the nfl can run around take hits and put there bodies on the line I'd like to think a rikishi can do the same. (granted the football season isnt year round but with spring/summer training and many athletes having to bulk up and keep themselves in shape with personal trainers and stuff in the offseason along with the dare I say bit more grueling sport of football in general its damn close if not the same....) On the real tho! -

Hakuyobaku 33 Posted December 31, 2004 Well, If Hakuhō doesn't meet the E. Yokozuna on Day 1, he's going to meet the E.Ozeki Kaiō, isn't it like that? well the last tournament Kotomitsuki got Kaiō on day 1. Anyway, last days of the tournament won't be that hard for the W.Komusubi hopefully. But then again, who knows, with Kotooshu/Roho/Kokkai out there.
Naganoyama 6,039 Posted December 31, 2004 Wow! When I got the magazine, I thought I was looking at someone else like a yokozuna from an older era. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On a cursory glance he looked to me a bit like Takanohana. He is certainly filling out and looking a bit more robust.

You may think it's ridiculous to be physically broken down at 28, but that's simply the way it is for most of those who go to Juryo and beyond at a very young age. About 10 years of sekitori-level competition seems to do in most rikishi. Guys like Terao or Kotonowaka are pretty much a once-in-a-decade exception, and you'll note that it's even more rare for an Ozeki or Yokozuna to hang on for that long.
