"sumo" - like tournament "Devebis Basho" in Kharagauli / Georgia
Hakuyobaku posted a topic in Amasumo Discussions
http://topnews.com.ge/news/14301 The actual one day kids and amateurs' basho-like event happened in Kharagauli / Georgia this weekend. Devebi - plural for Devi - a monster in Georgian/Persian etc mythos. The event was supported by Tochinoshin which you can check in his fb video. The rest is here https://www.facebook.com/დევების-ბაშო-270733886816827/ -
Of course he is. Just like most of top dogs. Between having no operational diping control, NSK not being a WADA signatory and it being a power sport there's every incentive to. In fact, i would argue hes just genetically more responsive to whatever steroids..

34, ozeki in the bag
-
For the purposes of that rule, Yokozuna also count as Ozeki, which is what they technically are anyway. If there's only one ozeki and n number of yokozuna, one of them becomes yokozuna-ozeki on the banzuke. If there are no ozeki, two become Y-O. What is needed is having at least two rikishi ranked either at O or Y. And it's hard to imagine a situation where there is only one ozeki and no yokozuna or vice versa. Although... if you make a couple assumptions it's possible in like half a year.

How many more basho does Kisenosato get before he's forced to leave? So far He has only finished one (first) basho out of six he has entered in with a yokozuna rank. Granted that was a win but still if he is out he will be in lowest 5 of all the yokozuna and maybe even the lowest with number of bouts won as a y?
-
I haven't followed recently, has there been talks or calls for Kisenosato to retire? His record is abysmal last few basho. No Kachi Koshi for 5 basho, it's a bit too much for a yokozuna.

10 wins are enough for new Ozeki Takayasu, right? It's a bit downward trend but 33 wins surely will be sufficient? Has there been a word on this?

Basho Talk - Aki Basho 2016 +++ Spoiler Alert! +++

Not entirely accurate, Musashimaru went 15-0 as Ozeki but wasn't promoted until 5 years after. Onokuni's 15-0 was also (arguably) not part of his Yokozuna run. at least not technically as those are usually 2 basho Onokuni's 15-0 was right before that. Maybe what you meant to say was that Wakashimazu was the last Ozeki to go 15-0 and never to get promoted, that would stand true. -

Anyone remember the standoff between Kotomitsuki and .. I don't remember who it was. Should have been Kotonowaka because if his propensity for long bouts, but they were stablemates.. They just stood there for half a minute without contact and another half a minute with heads against each other. I can't remember now who the other rikishi was. But it was years before Kotomotsuki became Ozeki -
Exactly like current ozeki crop -Terunofuji. If there was someone really strong coming up there would not be any talk of making a yokozuna out of them. Also Kakuryu might have been on his way to retirement. It's quite a big hole though. 1988-89, But there's also a shortage of youngsters who are now 22-23, born in 1993-4. There's just Ichinojo and Daiesho and Kagayaki. So thin. These holes are hope for the yokozunas to stay for longer and the current 30+ ozekis to dream of getting there or at least comfortably retaining rank (Shogiku)..

By the book, who is slated to be Goeido's final opponent, other than Kakuryu today and then Harumafuji and Kotoshogiku? Is it Kaisei or someone lower ranker with good results, like Endo or Mitakeumi?
