And just for his home jungyo in Ibaraki pref., Takasu joins the kyujo list with lumbago and a herniated disk, while Hoshoryu joins the jungyo at a location with personal connections - Tatsunami-beya was in Ibaraki before and he was raised to sekitori there  o

Koga is the hometown of Chiyonokuni, of course he as Sanoyama was the one to do PR for the jungyo some months ago

Takayasu has announced that he will be withdrawing from the jungyo in Koga, Ibaraki, starting tomorrow, due to a return of his chronic back pain. On the 6th, he submitted a medical certificate to the Kyokai stating "lumbar pain and discopathy, acute lower back pain." The certificate read, "Since the night of August 5, 2025, discomfort in the lower back has developed. This morning, August 6, 2025, the lower back pain worsened, and he visited our hospital that same day. An X-ray of the lumbar spine revealed degeneration of the intervertebral disc, and the diagnosis was determined to be the above (lumbar pain and discopathy, acute lower back pain). Approximately three weeks of rest and treatment are considered necessary." The Ibaraki-born Takayasu will unfortunately be absent from the tour on the 7th, which is scheduled to take place in his hometown. Approximately three weeks later, on the 29th of this month, the tour will stop in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, for the second time in this summer tour. Whether he will be able to rejoin the group by then will depend on his future recovery.

Today, he appeared to have no problems walking and no tape on the injured area either. Initially, he refused to be interviewed, saying "It's fine," but while walking, he said, "I'll be starting tomorrow (the 7th). I'll be competing (in bouts) and even doing the dohyo-iri, " before boarding the bus.

Also the traditional Oki ancient sumo from Okinoshima, Shimane - announced by pref. local 38th Kimura Shonosuke

At the Sumo Expo 2025 on the 4th, the 38th Shonosuke didn't announce Oki-zumo, but a Kagura from his hometown Izumo, depicting the famous bout of Nomi-no-Sukune, the chief priest of Izumo taisha and lord of Izumo, vs. Taima-no-Kehaya, a lord from Nara, celebrated in Katsuragi, with the Kehaya-za sumo hall at the side of of his tomb.

Oki-zumo displayed the proper salt throwing, which also was shown at Okinoumi's danpatsushiki

Careful, his weird kind of moonwalk dohyo-iri won't do his toe any good.

Houshouryuu, who withdrew from Nagoya due to an injury to his left big toe, joined the jungyo today. He practiced in the morning, lending his chest to Kusano and others. He wore a tabi sock on his left foot, including during his bout against Oonosato. "My foot is much better now. I hope it gets better day by day." he said. He later revealed that he wore a cast on the injured area, which was diagnosed as a dislocated fracture, for the first five days after his kyujo. "I felt something strange even before the basho. I didn't know the bone was cracked." Regarding his current situation, having missed two of the three basho since his promotion, he said, "I was so determined to win that I got injured. I want to get back to my usual self." He also said he felt the pressure of being at the highest rank. "I was thinking about it without even realizing it. It's my own problem." He will continue to participate in the jungyo until the final day on the 31st, and will attempt to make a comeback in Aki. His Oyakata Tatsunami who visited the venue on the 7th as the Oyakata in charge, said, "The next basho he enters will be important.."

at the jungyo, each ichimon has someone in charge of public morals (whatever that is right now), usually veterans. Abi (31), Shodai (33) and Sadanoumi (38) are that for their ichimon, and now youngster (22) Atamifuji was appointed for Isegahama-ichimon (still not updated in the DB)

He found rikishi eating ice-cream while walking around and cautioned them. Also bad manners are: untidy clothing, leaving waste lying around in the shitaku-beya etc.

Those in charge of this, have to act properly themselves - Abi isn't known for that and Shodai had quite improper clothing for police duty recently. And they have to train properly: Atamifuji did:

I really, really wish they'd encourage or even require him to take time off to heal and recover properly, instead of ... whatever this is. So frustratingly shortsighted.

I bet the deal is "show up and do your dohyo-iri - and whatever else you feel comfortable doing".

Even if so, it's not ideal, when he should be resting and doing physio...I get it that they want to showcase him at the jungyo to help their bottom line, but they've managed without in the past, and they're increasing the odds they'll have to do so again sooner than necessary

One of the reasons they were so lenient to Terunofuji was his readiness to show up for ceremonial duty as much as he could.

That may be true, but I'd suggest the main reason was because Terunofuji was their only yokozuna - and their panic at losing him is why we find Hoshoryu in his current situation.

The simplest one. The one that abolished kosho. Not a conspiracy theory- just something that has happened quite a few times before, some of us think.

Yeah, it's a conspiracy theory..

The jungyo arrived at Yamabe, Yamagata today with Yokozuna Oonosato doing sumo for the first time since Nagoya. He called out Juryo Oushouumi , who is one year younger than him and also hails from Tsubata Town, Ishikawa Prefecture. Against an opponent who excels at yotsu sumo, he demonstrated a variety of moves, including some makikae, and had seven matches in all. After the session, he commented, "I hope I can continue to train hard." He also lent his chest to Yokozuna Houshouryuu for some butsugari, after which Houshouryuu lent him his chest. The crowd was thrilled to see the two Yokozunae working out together. The summer jungyo continues until the 31st. "The tour is long, so I'll do my best again tomorrow," summed Oonosato.

The summer jungyo arrived in Sendai today, the 11th. Yokozuna Houshouryuu, had 13 bouts against Makuuchi rikishi Ouhou and Hakuohou going 9-4. He  impressed the crowd with spectacular sukuinages and strong pushes. He then lent his chest to compatriot Mongolian Komusubi Oushouma . "I want to get my body back to normal. I'm not at my best yet. I need to train and get my slack body back in shape," he said. He reportedly fought 20 bouts during the jungyo held in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture on the 9th. On this day, he was seen chatting with Yokozuna Oonosato and jungyo boss Sakaigawa  ringside, and revealed, "We talked about the possibility of two Yokozunae training together on one of the tours. It hasn't been decided yet though." He had tape around the injured big toe of his left foot, saying, "It bothers me. It's an injury after all. I have to keep going even if it hurts. There's no point in wailing about it endlessly -  it won't help.. " He spoke firmly about the Aki Basho, saying, "I have to do my best for the people who support me."
