Mitakeumi in 2019

Mitakeumi has been in Ozumo for less than four years. In 2018 he won his first Makunouchi yusho!  

Will he build on this success in 2019?  Or will he drop down from the Sanyaku ranks?  If yes, how far will he drop?  How will he do against the current crop of Yokozunas and Ozekis?

He'll beat all the ozeki and Kakuryu at least twice, I would put Kise in there but I think he'll intai in 2019.

He will be crowned Ozeki in Kyushu 2019 to take revenge on whoever whistled and sucked him

He continues his slow steady improvement and ends up an Ozeki, with Yokozuna to follow in 2020

I don’t have a lot of faith in his ozeki chances next year, but I don’t think he’ll slip too far down. He’ll beat all the current ozeki at least twice. He won’t get to beat the current yokozuna twice because they won’t show up often enough.

but he is not good enough to make more then Sekiwake.

He had only one single really good Basho.

Over half of us think that Mitakeumi will *not* drop out of the joi-jin this year (so no MKs?)!

All three Ozekis are predicted by most to lose at least twice to Mitakeumi. The Yokozunas are picked less often, with Hakuho being the least picked.

The median for the lowest rank for Mitakeumi to lose to is M5.

So, his lowest rank on the banzuke for the period specified was M2W - as predicted by Churaumi, Jejima, I am the Yokozuna, James Jett and Pitinosato.

Kisenosato is excluded from the calculations, due to his intai last year (record was 1 win to M - 0 losses - 5 did not meets)

The lowest rank that Mitakeumi lost to in 2019 was M5W - TWICE - and BOTH times to Ryuden. (He has already beaten that record for 2020 by losing to M8W in January, who was (what a surprise), Ryuden.) Terao, WAKATAKE, I am the Yokozuna, Oshirokita and James Jett all correctly guessed M5.

Based on the first and third questions, there will be a yusho play-off (based on their answers for question #2) between I am the Yokozuna and James Jett....
