We'll see if some official will give him a warning - in any case, this may earn him negative sentiments and maybe extra bad banzuke luck. He'll likely be in the ms top 10 though and a simple kachikoshi could be enough for promotion - another 6-1 and it can't be denied.

Kitanowaka yesterday had an encouragement party of his local koenkai home in Sakata city. The mayor expressed his hopes to see him in makuuchi next year, he wants to aim for the yusho and makuuchi promotion next basho. o

About 2000 came to the event at the AEON LakeTown shopping mall in Koshigaya - a 90m walk - Abi got 10 bales of rice (one is 60kg), 1ton of onions and a year's supply of natural water.

Asanoyama today had a koenkai party celebrating his juryo return and yusho with about 150 members from the Tokyo Toyoma pref. citizens club. It has been 4 years since he last was at a koenkai party, then for sanyaku promotion.

Asanoyama on the 12th was at the koenkai New Year encouragement rally home in Toyoma city with about 500 supporters in total, held after 3 years again, split into two parts, noon and night. The Toyama koenkai at present has about 1450 members. He wants to repay their support by making it to the top - asked if this is a yusho he replied, "no, yokozuna".

Kotonowaka had the party to celebrate his komusubi promotion with about 260 supporters on the 12th in Tendo, Yamagata, the location of Oh-ban Holdings, the president of the company is the head of both his individual and the heya koenkai. The oyakata as usual promised to have his son gambarize to get to ozeki and become Kotozakura II.  o

 

Kotokuzan had the Corona delayed party to celebrate juryo promotion on December 18th in Yokohama's Nishi ward, with about 200 supporters. o

Atamifuji today in a hotel in Atami had a party by his (quite) new local koenkai to celebrate juryo promotion (1 year ago, with one basho in makuuchi in the meantime) - Corona delayed, the first celebration event by his koenkai, about 170 supporters were there

Endo had an encouragement party on the 22nd by his local Anamizu koenkai with about 80 supporters, as usual one after 3 years again. He told them it made him excited when he heard the calls again in the kokugikan - not just the clapping: after 5 basho he had a kachikoshi again, but isn't satisfied with the result (9-6). The head of the koenkai wants him to aim for ozeki.

On March 29th in Amagasaki, Hyogo, after 4 years there was again the Osaka basho party for the rikishi from the Amami islands by the Kansai Amami sumo federation, with about 150 locals from the islands. In the center Meisei (not on the pic) and Daiamami as rikishi representative - accompanied by the heya's Tobizaru - with Chiganoura-oyakata (Satoyama) - accompanied by Takekuma - and makuuchi gyoji Kimura Hisanosuke o
