Akinomaki 41,849 Posted June 13, 2018 (edited) Kisenosato generally gets recommended to go kyujo for Nagoya, but at least he is scheduled for July 1st to do a dohyo-iri at the Owari Okunitama shrine 尾張 大國霊 神社, the Kounomiya in Inazawa, next to Nagoya (Kise is a regular for setsubun at the Tokyo area Okunitama shrine). It will be the first ever yokozuna dohyo-iri to take place at this shrine, which is famous for the hadaka-matsuri (nakedness festival - but only as naked as a rikishi): to celebrate 1250 years since this (properly called) naoi-shinji gets celebrated. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/local/aichi/news/20180613-OYTNT50029.html And to commemorate the event, there is this special document with the shrine's red seal Edited July 5, 2018 by Akinomaki

Does their kyujo status also mean they stop performing dohyo-iri ceremonies? Kyujo is for all job activities, at the basho only Kise will do the dohyo-iri. The 2 declared kyujo after doing their jobs at all the pre-basho dohyo-iri, next is the jungyo, starting Dec. 2nd - they'd need another kyujo application there. I don't think there are extra events scheduled this year, the New Year dohyo-iri at the Meiji shrine should be the next.
