Video Stream - Haru 12 - Day 15 Up

Recommended Posts

Baruto lifted Yoshikaze up in the air not unlike me when I lift up my three-year old son! :-P

Yup. Same here, lower bitrate.

Thanks. They seemed to have some serious troubles around 14:00 JST...stream was dead on my end for several minutes. After I managed to start the recording again, I went elsewhere, only to come back about 45 minutes later to see the bitrate dropped - and to find my 45-minute recording including only about 23 minutes of watchable video. Not sure if there was another outage or if the bitrate change damaged the file. The filesize looks okay for 23 minutes at the higher bitrate, so either WMRecorder started dev/nulling the input after the change, or I happened to come back right after the change occured. Weird.

I hope it's just a case of them being unable to cope with the demand (which Akamai might be able to fix quickly) and not a larger tech issue, although combined with the sound troubles it looks like the Osaka setup might just not be ready for primetime.

There was a mobile cameraman hovering around for a bit at the start. I wonder where his footage ends up.

News footage for NHK, FNN or somebody like that, would be my guess. Osunaarashi tomorrow will probably bring out a few more photographers, too.

There was a double outage. I took a short hit on the first one, but had to do a full restart on the second one.

Whew, video turned on just in time for maezumo, the gyoji was already stepping on the dohyo. Sound fairly iffy again, bitrate still down.

He was on first; my recording barely caught it. Upload going...

Used to work on my Playbook but they must have changed CODECs :(

Says "Windows Media Video 9". As that's been around since 2003, it's unlikely to be a recent change.

Was there an alternate stream in QuickTime Mov or avi format before? Seems the Playbook doesn't like WM.

Weird. According to this: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/27267/Supported_Media_Types_on_BlackBerry_Tablets_%28English%29.pdf it ought to work, unless I'm missing something. (WMV 9 implements VC-1, which is listed as a supported codec.) Are you perhaps having some other issue?

Day 5 - dohyo sound fixed at 0930 again. Is it on a timer or something? (In a state of confusion...)

Not sure if anyone else has trouble at the start of the stream, but by the time I managed to get connected they were already in the middle of mae-zumo.

Anyway, so far there have been some really good bouts - the Jonokuchi rikishi put on a great show today, and Aragyoshi's okuritsuriotoshi must have left a Shuho-shaped impression in the dohyo. (Eek...)
