Asojima 2,839 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) The NSK should once again provide a live internet video stream of the action in ALL divisions every day of the Haru basho. The link(s) should go active at about 8:20 AM Japan Standard time with the Jonokuchi division (10:00 AM on days 13-15) and continue through the end of the Makuuchi Division at about 6:00 PM. To watch the action, you need a high capacity (non-dialup) internet link and Microsoft Media Player or an equivalent ( many use VLC ). The links to get to it are: Link 1 : http://sumo.goo.ne.j...sx/sumolive.asx Link 2 : http://mfile.akamai....up=56241∝=a and mms1 - mms://a1533.l12513451532.c125134.a.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1533/125134/v0001/reflector:51532 mms2 - mms://a242.l12513456241.c125134.a.lm.akamaistream.net/D/242/125134/v0001/reflector:56241 Links 1 and 2 are usable with WMP and most others. On some systems, WMP will not play the two mms links, but VLC and others can handle them. If you try to open any of the links before the NSK activates them for the day, you will get a connect error message. Keep trying. The links are useable on iPhone4 using Good Player and on Samsung Galaxy S II using Vplayer. Other similar devices may also handle the links. Reports on other devices would be appreciated. The approximate start times for each division through day 12 should be: Jk - 08:30 - 08:45 AM JST Jd - 09:00 AM Sd - 11:20 AM Ms - 1:40 PM Juryo - 3:05 PM Mk - 4:20 PM Dohyo-iri: Juryo 2:40 PM, Mk 3:50 PM All times are +/- 15 minutes Days 2-4 may have maezumo matches for about 10 minutes before Jk. Days 13-15 have fewer matches per day. Jk should start at about 10:30 AM on days 13/14 and at 10:00 AM on Day 15. Enjoy!! Note: Link 2 and the two mms links corrected above to reflect the verified changes submitted by Asashosakari. Edited March 25, 2012 by Asojima
Asashosakari 16,996 Posted March 10, 2012 Looks like the adresses have changed again, according to the current content of the sumolive.asx file they're going to be: Link 1 : http://sumo.goo.ne.j...sx/sumolive.asx Link 2 : http://mfile.akamai....kup=56241∝=a and mms1 - mms://a1533.l12513451532.c125134.a.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1533/125134/v0001/reflector:51532 mms2 - mms://a242.l12513456241.c125134.a.lm.akamaistream.net/D/242/125134/v0001/reflector:56241
Asojima 2,839 Posted March 10, 2012 A reminder: Japan stays on standard time. Adjust your schedule if you go to daylight savings time.
Asojima 2,839 Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Day 1 - Link active with live video by 0818 JST. Jk started at 0840 JST. Getting audio only from the ringside gyoji. Edited March 10, 2012 by Asojima
Yubinhaad 10,787 Posted March 10, 2012 I'm hearing the announcer, but no sound from the dohyo - someone's pressed the wrong button.
Asojima 2,839 Posted March 11, 2012 I'm hearing the announcer, but no sound from the dohyo - someone's pressed the wrong button. Sounds lke the gyoji has a 3 position switch, 1-Off, 2-House and 3-Announce, and he is switching from 1 to 3 and back. There is a brief moment of house sound before each announcement as if he is passing thru position 2. He should be going between 2 and 3.
Bugman 377 Posted March 11, 2012 I too am experiencing the sound problem, when someone speaks through the microphone i can hear the back-ground sound fine, but when the gentleman stops speaking i no longer hear anything, thank you Asojima for the links. I've heard those brief gyoji/yobidashi snippets too, but I thought it was simply his own microphone picking up the sounds from his position before he switched that off. Oh well. I've been itching for this basho to start, and silent sumo is better than no sumo at all. :-)

Asojima 2,839 Posted March 11, 2012 The Jonidan yobdashi seems to be using Osakaese to pronounce the shikonas. Weird.

Kuroyama 715 Posted March 11, 2012 The Jonidan yobdashi seems to be using Osakaese to pronounce the shikonas. Weird. Maybe he's from Osaka, and being on his home turf has made his accent revert.
Rōnin 0 Posted March 11, 2012 So happy to be back after January...and I see the forum's got a facelift! :) Entertaining day one - I particularly enjoyed the very impressive oshitaoshi from Mr. Tochinowaka against Ozeki Kisenosato.

Asojima 2,839 Posted March 11, 2012 Scheduled start time for Day 2 is 0900 JST, but there might be some maezumo just before that.
kenzo 5 Posted March 11, 2012 Hi , Has any forum reader an idea if the Maezumo matches from Tuesady will go out over the net during the streaming and if so how late? Thanks
Asojima 2,839 Posted March 11, 2012 Hi , Has any forum reader an idea if the Maezumo matches from Tuesady will go out over the net during the streaming and if so how late? Based on the past bashos, they will be streamed for about 10 minutes before the start of Jonokuchi. Look for them at about 08:45 JST, give or take 10 mins. Asashosakari 16,996 Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) Why Tuesday in particular? :-) (Reading book...) (Whistling...) So you already know which day the two Otake deshi are going to be active, I presume. :-) You should watch today, too, so you know what to expect Tuesday. ;-) Stream's up already, incidentally, with a completely empty arena (except for one guy who just strolled through). Asashosakari 16,996 Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) Same sound problem as yesterday...grr. Edit: Well, there's sound now, but it sounds as though it's being picked up by the surveillance cam down the hallway or something. Edit edit: Could somebody please turn off the running faucet? This isn't a 1960s spy movie. Edited March 11, 2012 by Asashosakari

This isn't a 1960s spy movie. The only name I managed to pick up was Kinjo, but then again he was pretty hard to miss as the tallest/heaviest of the new boys. There was a mobile cameraman hovering around for a bit at the start. I wonder where his footage ends up. Anyway, on with the action...
Asashosakari 16,996 Posted March 12, 2012 Anybody else seeing the stream bitrate reduced from ~550 to 320 right now?
igirisujin 3 Posted March 12, 2012 Yup. Same here, lower bitrate.
