Please add Harinezumi to the SFI roster. I recruited him after badgering him in my comments to our match earlier this basho.

Bench Sumo Players, attention! We, the Sumo forum Ichimon, are recruiting again. - If you are a fine person with high moral traits, don't join us. If you are devious, wicked, like to henka, have excessive facial hair, or drive a stick shift Subaru, you are more than cordially invited. The only stipulation-you have to be a Sumo forum member. We are a strong Ichimon, although it's been a while since we won the Cup. (Maybe this time??We were in strong contention..) Just reply to this thread and you will be asked to undergo some small physical and mental tests (pulling a double decker bus with your teeth, proving the quantum leap theory, eating much-nothing serious).

We are dying to bring in new blood to our Itchymom. But more than that, we are sick and tired of cleaning up here-we need some newbies to do that!

So pick up that phone and call us! (standard rates apply)

I'd like to join! It's about time, after so many years of playing :) And maybe it will change my luck, as I'm probably the current makushitan with the most time in the division. I hope I haven't stuck there forever...

Welcome! At least you got to stay in makushita ... I'm working my way back up from Jonidan after falling from the top division ...

Indeed, you are!

Incidentally, the only other player with 29 active basho in Makushita is Kofuji. (Bearded disguise...)

Welcome sir. Now sit back and watch as you start an amazing leap forward - 3 bashos max and you're in Juryo. As your temporary Ichimon leader (an election will be held soon) and current Okamisan, I suggest you make a slight shikona change- Kitakachikoshiyama. That should drive one or two databases crazy with its length, but will surely bring good luck.

3 bashos max and you're in Juryo.

Who knows, maybe one basho will be enough. I've had 8-7 from ms4w in Haru, so I should be at the top of Makushita in Natsu. But I've been in Juryo 3 times already, every time for only one basho and every time it was a disaster. That's why I need a better luck :-)

First let's see if joining the SFI is enough :-) Kitakachikoshiyama sounds great, but we shouldn't provoke the database troll, we had enough problems with sumo games and databases already (Bearded disguise...)

(Clapping wildly...) (Clapping wildly...) (Clapping wildly...) (Clapping wildly...) Maybe the sleeping giant has awakened...........again.

What a time! Our new Ozeki Kintamayama yusho'd, (Yusho winner...) is taking the leadership reins and sweeping out some chaff. SFI has added 2 new rikhish, Harinezumi and Kitakachiyama. Welcome ye new hirsute ones.

Have some other news here in Po' Boy's Pool Hall and Trailer Park. A new enterprise. Bubba's Bait Shop and Zushi Bar is having grand opening in the former Lehman Bros building. Gift certificates from Bubba's are on the way to our 2 new SFI mates, and available to any new SFI inductees. There's no expiration date, but if you should join before the May basho, double value. (Sigh...)

Where was all this esprit-de-corp before? Where was the Sumo Forum Ichimon get-up-and-go prior to 3 basho ago? I cannot even recall exactly how long ago I joined the Ichimon but to do it I had to query Manekineko who had just recently (at the time) resigned as the SFI Oyakata to find out who to contact. There was no page in the forum dedicated to the Ichimon (still isn't so far as I can tell). I never received any communication from anyone but I checked the BS Ichimon pages and sure enough I had been added as a member.

Time passed and there were never any communications either here or on the BS email system between our members, no let's get those other ichimon messages, no cheerleading as it were, nothing.

Nothing that is until about 3 basho ago when the boys at Sumo Talk invaded the BS game and founded their own Ichimon and started a not-so-quiet revolution. I have long been a member of both forums and quite frankly I am happiest getting my Sumo news and information and exchanging thoughts and ideas etc. with Sumo Forum. My daughter however was a member of ST and when they formed their ichimon I was natuarally invited to join them. I hesitated, I truly did, because I was already a member of SFI. I debated it for several days, I won't go so far as to say I agonized over the decision but I really though it out good and long. Finally I decided that I would go ahead and jump ship if it was allowed. I checked with the BS gurus and explained the situation and they said that normally it wasn't allowed but that they would allow it this once. So once again, after all the time I had been a "member" of SFI, I still had no idea of who, if anyone was in charge! So once again I had to pick someone to ask so, knowing that Kinta-san was a member and would almost certainly know who was in charge I asked him to forward my resignation and he graciously agreed to do so.

So now I am a member of an ichimon that actually has communication between it's members and who certainly aren't just lurkers in the BS game either. We have made our presence felt. Not quite enough to take the flag yet but we're not letteing anybody else coast into victory lane either. And contrary to how this may have sounded at first it's not a sour-grapes missive. I am glad that the presence of STI in the BS community has finally awakened some pride and spirit in SFI. I'm glad that it has got you all moving and yes actively recruiting! I hope it continues and doesn't just fade away again. Comptetition is a good thing for all concerned. For the longest time I kind of wondered why I used to only see byplay between Massashigawaw and NPI just about everyone else never seemed to get into the spirit much.

It's a shame that flag isn't flying over at STI but our time WILL come. It does look good on you though and I'm happy to see that your get-up-and-go hasn't gone after all!

Well Chisa-san with your family example I convinced my daughter to join in the sumo game. She'll start next basho and of course she'll be a member of ST Ichimon.

We are proud of our silence. The only outburst usually comes from me, so nothing happened "suddenly" or out of the ordinary. Soon we shall return to "dignified and quiet" mode, until, again, we wipe the floor with the competition. If we don't, we will return to reflect upon our mistakes, learn from them, and outburst again. As for your jumping ship and joining ST, all we can really do about it is try to make you sorry for making such a big mistake..

Hey, sorry I just noticed this thread now. Been way too busy, worked today (Saturday), have completely neglected the blog translating... But I hope this work storm will pass soon, that I might put together a decent team for the honbasho! Are we going to have any private keiko or anything? Are we still effectively oyakata-less?

Harinezumi

Harinezumi

Yes we are. We need to choose one ASAP.

I nominate Kofuji. After all, he got the game all automated.. Any other nominees will be accepted, or if anyone thinks he can do it-come forward!! As acting oyakata and flagrant Okamisan, I think we should have an Oyakata by the start of the basho. Deadline for nominees: May 1st. We'll hold a quiet election if we have more than one nominee.

What traits should an Oyakata possess? Leadership, money, and more! So let's choose our new oyakata quickly and efficiently and start our quest to hold on to the flag !!

Someone should bring a cake.

As an oyakata I can tell you that these are optional.....

This is a fantasy sumo game I just fantasise I'm a good leader and have lots of money.....(Seriously!)

That could be why the NPI has only won one ICF though since I became Oyakata ...

Obviously former NPI Oyakata Boltono had much better fantasies ... the G&T and the 99 go-go dancers (Enjoyable TV program...) and former governor of Osaka are much more inspiring fantasies than getting caned if you don't perform.

Unfortunately,,,Not to denegrate our former oyakata but his techniques proved even less successful if more fun than mine....
