nirumaruyama 0 Posted September 14, 2007 Day 6 of the Aki basho got a little bit on my goat (nerves). Roho's henka, Kisenosato's messing and Hakurozan's crappy rei. Kisenosato's antics seemed to have struck a cord also with the forum so it made me wonder who begins to annnoy us the most when they step on to the dohyo. You might get hypertension watching Takamisakari, perhaps Kisenosato's bum waggles make you wince, Baruto's inability to get over his injury jinx might drive you to despair and Kotooshu's confidence wobblers might want to make you eat out-of-date sushi from a truck stop. Here is y our opportunity to release the pent up inner tension. All of the above have on more than one occassion had me banging my head off the wall in frustration over therir awful sumo when it was harder to be bad than good, their antics on the dohyo, off the doyho and the passage in between. My personal choice is Roho - the henkas, the fights, the dirty looks, the poor rei, the sloppy sumo, the disinterested looks, the accusations. Am I the only one? Kintamayama 45,534 Posted September 14, 2007 Kitazakura the dummkopf. Oh, come on.. He's a nice guy. He throws the salt so nicely, it is a work of art. And he's a nice guy..
ilovesumo 12 Posted September 14, 2007 Hmmm.... I don't like to see Hakurozan's bouts...I can't say anything else about him. But his Sumo is.... It's not the Rikishi himself, Number2, but all the Tamtam cause of his doings. Takamisakari. Strange that I love an other guy, former Daihagiyama, for the same stuff. Maybe his barking is more funny or it is because I saw it from the near...
aderechelsea 125 Posted September 14, 2007 Iwakiyama is frustrating because he was always an underachiever and i liked him ... Kasuganishiki is frustrating when it comes to Sumo gaming ... :-P Kisenosato is frustrating when he wins ... i always wish he will lose in his fights ... :-) Hokutoriki's sumo and "fighting spirit" is frustrating because he is from my favourite stable. and last but not least ..... TAKAMISAKARI . forget the pre-bout silliness ... I just cannot stand his posture after the bouts.
Kotonosato 1 Posted September 15, 2007 Kotooshu He has had the chops to become ozeki. Maybe he'll even be a yokozuna some day. But so far he is an underachiever a la Takanonami. The henka has got to stop too!
Otokonoyama 2,735 Posted September 15, 2007 Kaio- just three 10-5 results in the past two years. Five kyujo. Completely spiritless sumo- nothing to look forward to whenever he's on the dohyo.

Tony 16 Posted September 17, 2007 Roho for me. I don't understand what is wrong with him.
Sashohitowa 6 Posted October 2, 2007 ...2 out of my 3 choices (Hokutoriki, Takekaze and Miyabiyama) are not presented in the poll... Anyway, I had already the feeling that it is only me who gets irritated by Miyabiama's behaviour... :-( BTW, for the Kotooshu's henka allegations - this basho he was not nominated even once in the traditional Henka sightings. Worth to mention. And, yes, I agree, it was a terrible basho for him - but isn't it what you want? To fight openly and lose, than to use "dishonorable" side moves? mokele 3 Posted November 12, 2007 Hokutoriki can't win a bout in a yotsu-zumo battle to save his life. If his nodo-wa or hatakikomi don't work, he's finished. He also is psychologically beaten before he even starts when facing the joi-jin, except for his one great basho when he finished at 13-2. I had the exact same problem with Toki, and many years ago, for those who can remember him, with Asanosho. It makes you wonder if these guys ever practiced belt fighting at all. Akebono became a great belt man, and so did Musashimaru, although they started out as mostly tsuppari and oshi rikishi. Chiyotaikai can win a belt fight occasionally and has a good sukuinage. I like well-rounded rikishi with all the skills.

I like well-rounded rikishi with all the skills. I'm with you on that. That's why Hokutoriki and Toki aren't frustrating because you know what they're about and what their limits are...they're actually fun to watch because you marvel at how the other rikishi keep letting them do what they do. Kisenosato is about to overtake Futeno as the most frustrating for me. Both appear to have all the skills, are of adequate size, and don't seem injured (at least nobody's talking about them). Futeno is missing that 'fire in the belly' thingy, but that's not the case with Kisenosato, who also has more speed and power than Futeno. Kise is still too young to give up on but if he doesn't show improvement in the next year, I'll start shaking my head with more vigor...

Itchygao 0 Posted November 15, 2007 My personal choice is Roho - the henkas, the fights, the dirty looks, the poor rei, the sloppy sumo, the disinterested looks, the accusations. Am I the only one? Count me in. This guy must be doing it because his other career option was shoveling salt in a gulag. He has NONE of the sportsmanship, temperment, and is especially lacking in RESPECT for his sport & chosen profession. Follow Roho around for a week with a camera and you could make a movie on :"Everything a Rikishi should not be." I was trying to think of something, even some little politeness about him to end on. There isn't one.
