More trouble for Asashouryuu?

Recommended Posts

On his return, from Mongolia, Asashouryuu sported a new hairstyle- a pig-tail.

Oh man, oh man.. Kitanoumi Rijicho:"I just cautioned him, as told by the YDC". The Sumo top brass were bewildered, again.

His trip to Mongolia was described as a "rehabilitation" trip for his neck or elbow, depends which paper you read. For that reason, he didn't take any hairdresser with him, so he couldn't do a proper mage, it is hinted. "Well, he could have added some oil and made the hair harder beforehand. I wish he had thought about this a bit harder before going out in public", said Rijicho.

"He went to Mongolia specifically for medical treatment. He couldn't do anything about it, " said Takasago Oyakata, who nevertheless looked angry.

Rijicho seems to have decided to overlook this one, but what next?

If anyone out there wants to put together a few photoshop images, e.g. Asashoryu with a purple mohawk, I think that would be hilarious ;-)

In any event, I find it pretty interesting to see just HOW long a sekitori's hair is! No wonder the tsukedashi need a long time until they can finally do a proper do...

On that subject, (and WAY off topic): why don't college champions start growing their hair in anticipation of what comes next, instead of being walking freaks for the beginning of their professional careers? (Neener, neener...)

Cheers

You mean a Sekitori has to wait till a college Yokozuna enters Sumo before he can have his hair done? Or did you mean tokoyama? (Neener, neener...)

I think he means that a makushita tsukedashi with a short hair who ascends fast into juryo (and perhaps even makuuchi), will look odd for a long time in his relative lack of hair compared to the sekitori with their regular oichomages.

I think I've seen few images with sekitoris' hair completely open and they look like Ian Gillan in Seventies. (Neener, neener...)
