Kintamayama 47,183 Posted June 3, 2003 Dejima had surgery on his right knee meniscus. Oyakata said it was a "light' surgery, two weeks to heal, after which, hopefully, he will resume keiko. Musashimaru has resumed keiko with Makushita. Oyakata says he will take it slowly. He was witnessed doing mean tsukidashi..
Dejimasama 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Keeping fingers crossed that this works out well for Dejima
Zenjimoto 40 Posted June 3, 2003 (edited) I am really relieved that it was only light surgery... obviously it could have been much worse after his brave battle through Natsu. I wasn't a particular Dejima fan since the beginning, but he has sort of grown on me, first cause I felt bad about his bad luck (Clapping wildly...) , but then also because his de-ashi really is awesome and he managed all the way back to Sekiwake :-D , but in this last basho, I think I became a fan - such a brave display, and really a shame that in the end he didn't get his KK - no one would have deserved it more.... (Applauding...) (Rock on...) Cheers Zenjimoto Edited June 3, 2003 by Zenjimoto
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Good luck to Dejima-zeki... (Sign of approval) I hope he recovers to 100% and doesn't get left feeling his knee is never 100%.

Musashimaru has resumed keiko with Makushita. Oyakata says he will take it slowly. He was witnessed doing mean tsukidashi.. I always feel a bit sorry for those "sandanme opponents" or "light Makushita opposition" who apparently always get the short end of the stick when a really good rikishi comes back from injury. (Yikes...) Of course it's an honor to train with the yokozuna, but "mean tsukidashi" would be quite bad even from a run-of-the-mill Makunouchi. This is Musashimaru on his way back... Paaaain... :-D
Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted June 3, 2003 I wasn't a particular Dejima fan since the beginning, ... How can you be a Dejima fan from the beginning, kid (sayz one who follows Sumō a mere three years longer than you)? You didn't see him when he was on the way to Ōzeki, right? If you are fond of his de-ashi now, you'd be awe-struck seeing some of his earlier de-ashi. He rivalled Chiyotaikai in his prime but injuries threw him back badly. Here you can see how he handled Kaiō back then. The Sumomovies from Dale aren't covering his yūshō in Nagoya 1999 which is sad. Maybe in a while I make some films from my archived VCR's and put them online.

Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted June 3, 2003 (edited) Hm, I feel I have the need of an old-looking smilie with cane and a long white beard. Have any like that rijicho? (Applauding...) Hmm, not quite anything like you describe but something reminiscent... I'll add these later to the emoticon list.
