Jejima 1,415 Posted March 11, 2005 (edited) Okay, you can start sending in your day 1 entries if you like... All entries must arrive before 1.00 pm Japan time prior to each day's bouts (NB Half an hour earlier than for Bench Sumo), this is so that I can do the preliminary cutting and pasting during my lunch-break :-D Below is mostly copied from the Jan basho (as you'll note from the rikishis' ranks, which I haven't bothered to update), but with some necessary adjustments :-S Template entry.... Please make your daily entries to molegame@gmail.com like this.... In the subject title:- Jejima Day 1 In the main body of the text:- Jejima Day 1 M - Ke Kotomitsuki RAF - Ow Chiyotaikai W, J4w Ishide W, S1w Miyabiyama L, J7e Hakurozan L, S - J13e Senshuyama, J14e Bushuyama, J10w Maikaze Comment: I'm very excited by this new game..... For clarification M = Mole RAF = Rank and File W = predicted winner L = predicted loser S = substitutes (only to be used if needed to replace a forfeit winner or loser) You will also note that I've kept their ranks (eg Ke, J4w etc) next to their shikonas. This is to make it easier for me to find them in the results (especially for the Juryo rikishi!) You will also see that I put the predicted winners before the predicted losers - again for my ease. You will further note that amongst the RAF, I put the predicted winners in order of rank, and then the predicted losers in order of rank. Again to make it as easy as possible for me to work out what's what. The subs are different due to the rules. They are just placed in order of likelihood of winning - in case they are called in to replace a forfeit loss / win rikishi. (Read rules above if you need further clarfication). Comments are - of course - unnecessary, but should you want to give one (and I will assume, unless told otherwise, that all comments (whether prefaced or not) included in a daily entry email are intended for all), are preferable at the end.... aderechelsea 125 Posted March 11, 2005 (edited) not a bad team myself .... i hope Tochisakae and Harunoyama will dominate their low ranked opponents. Kisenosato and Mickey will have good tournaments, and i hope the same for Asasekiryu and Shimotori who are back in the team as they were in Hatsu too ... anyway i hope we will have a good time and that i won't screw up in my gyoji debut (in 18-19-20 march) Good tournament to all !!!!!! Zenjimoto 40 Posted March 12, 2005 Damn, when was the deadline here? I am so out of it this basho (I am not worthy...) I am a drone? What does that mean? Can I still make selections?
Jejima 1,415 Posted March 13, 2005 Damn, when was the deadline here? I am so out of it this basho (I am not worthy...) I am a drone? What does that mean? Can I still make selections? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry about that.... With the new Juryo division, and my home computer repeatedly crashing, it took about 5 hours to sort out the initial line-ups (bring on the days of autmation!) The deadline was the same as for Bench Sumo (to allow time to get things set, and let players know their squads in good time, so that they can make their day 1 selections. Eveb when / if we get automation for this game, we'll need to keep an early deadline for this very reason.) What this means is that there is nothing for you to do this basho except watch the drone fight in your place. Your drone has an automatic winning mole, and so does have a winning chance. A drone cannot go up a division (which in your case is moot, as there are no divisions to go up to), but can stay in its current division, or drop down a division. Then, in May you replace it again. When I have time later, I'll cut and paste the drone rules and Transfer window rules across to this thread for clarity. But a BIG reminder to those fighting the drones down in Juryo, all the drones have automatic winning moles, so make sure you put a sure-fire bet for your mole! Jejima 1,415 Posted March 13, 2005 Below are the kyujo / drone rules copied and pasted (with only minor changes) from the beta thread... Kyujo rules:- Due to the nature of this game, it needs to be much more strict on kyujo players as this game will be less fun if the tiny divisions have lots of non-active players replaced by boring drones.... There are no kosho rules. If a player is 'kyujo' for one basho (ie does not make an entry), he or she will be replaced by a drone called by their shikona+drone. eg, if Jejima does not enter, a Jejimadrone will take his place. The player will replace the drone for the basho. However, a player-drone is NOT allowed to be promoted up a division, and so will be pushed down the final result table - if need be - to the first position that ensures that this does not happen. A player-drone can remain in the same level of division (based on his / her drone's efforts), or get moved down a division if their drone sucks. A player going kyujo for two basho in a row will be replaced for the second basho by a 'ghost', eg Jejimaghost. The player-ghost ends up the basho in the same way as a player-drone. However, once the new banzuke has been completed as outlined in a previous post, all 'ghosts' are removed, and all players are moved up the banzuke to fill up the gaps. Intai Any players going intai need to have made that announcement prior to a new Ozumo banzuke being published. Failure to do so will have them playing that basho as a player-ghost (even if it is their first kyujo basho in a row). Otherwise all active players are moved up the banzuke to fill in the gaps. Drone rules:- There are three types of drones. Player-drones and Player-ghosts are as outlined above. Drone-drones are created to fill up the lowest division of the banzuke. All three types of drones are created in the same way. Once all active players have made their picks, the drones make theirs. In the divisional order of the drones (if there are more than 1 drone in a division), each drone takes the highest four (note only four!) unpicked rikishi left on the banzuke. These four are rikishi are the rank-and-filers and their default pick are as 'WINNERS'. This only changes if two of the drones picks are facing each other, in which case, the drone has the lower ranked of the two rikishi changed to 'LOSER'. In addition to the four rank-and-filers from the banzuke, the drone also gets a 'joker' for its Mole. All jokers are automatic winners. This means that a regular player needs to correctly predict a winner for their hole, or else lose on win rule #1. Should a drone and a non-drone tie on rules #1 and 2, then the active player will automatically win on rule #3. In the case of two drones tie-ing on rule #2, then the two drones jump straight to rule #6 to decide the winner. If one or more of the drones rikishi are involved in a fusensho / fusenpai bout, then they immediately replace that / those rikishi with the highest ranked unclaimed rikishi and that rikishi's results kick in on the same day as the fusensho / fusenpai occurs. The change remains with the drone for the remainder of basho.
Jejima 1,415 Posted March 13, 2005 Here are the transfer window rules.... This will occur during Adetc watch for this basho :-) Transfer window rules.... When a player send in their entry for day 7, they may also include a list of any rikishi on their team that they wish to ditch (from 0 - 8). Drones will automatically ditch all four of their rikishi. However players should note that they will keep these rikishi for days 7 AND 8. (So will only have a changed team after the Championship Flag part of the Basho has been completed). Along with the Day 7 results, Adetc will give the list of all rikishi back in the 'pool'. These include all the rikishi which were previously not on a team, all rikishi previously belonging to drones, and all the rikishi returned by the players. Then along with their Day 8 entries, ALL players (including those who haven't ditched anyone) should rank the 'pool' players in order of preference - including the rikishi that they have personally ditched. Then along with the day 8 results, Adetc will publish the list of the new teams, to be used from day 9 until the end of the basho. The first dipper of the pool will be player H (only one rikishi), then player G, and so on down to player A (of course, only taking rikishi if they need it to get back to their original eight for their team). Then back to player H again for the second round, and so on, until all players have 8 rikishi again. This of course means that you might get back a rikishi that you thought you'd ditched! Then the drones get assigned their 4 rikishi in the same way as at the start of the basho. Please note that the East side and West side pools are separate, and cannot be mixed. These revised teams cannot be changed for the remainder of the basho. If a rikishi goes kyujo from your squad, then the revised list of preferences (from Day 8) is used to see who your replacement will be. (If you forget to do this, then the original list will be used). This is why even those players who don't make any squad changes should still rank the pool. In this case a returning kyujo player will go automatically to the bottom of everyone's list (and for fairness - even for those players who didn't enter their pool list on Day 8, and so are to use their day 1 entry), but I doubt that this would be a regular event
Jejima 1,415 Posted March 13, 2005 aye i know but it doesn't answer the question about the inequality of the east west level of difficulty. i guess there is little that can be done bar moving someone up a division but that could create more problems than it solves. isn't there some way the drone could have a win/loss posibility in the hole? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree with you on this. I think that in most cases all that a human player will have to do is to find a winning mole. All players last basho found winning moles more often than they didn't (and some of those moles might have been riskier picks than need be for tactics). I therefore think that the drones are at a slight disadvantage. But the whole purpose of gamma testing is to find out what works and doesn't work. However, having said the above, I have a sneaky feeling that the Raiden-drone in Juryo will be VERY strong this basho (which is fitting), due to its automatic picks. Keep an eye of it :-)
Asashosakari 19,680 Posted March 13, 2005 However, having said the above, I have a sneaky feeling that the Raiden-drone in Juryo will be VERY strong this basho (which is fitting), due to its automatic picks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, probably. That's something that could be prevented (if you'd want to, that is) by having a different drone picking strategy, e.g.: given n drones, each drone picks the i-th, (i+n)-th, (i+2n)-th, and (i+3n)-th rikishi Considering that, if/when this game goes public at some point, chances are high that you'll have half-empty divisions quite often, balancing the drones' selections may be worthwhile, as opposed to having super-drones and bust-drones (like the Chiyonofuji drone which looks like it got shafted with 4 meatgrinder losers). The way the rules are will give each drone a bit of a 'personality' (either tricky, or a pushover), which will make it more interesting to compete against them, than if they were all just slightly different flavours of vanilla. Anyway, let's see how this basho plays out before fiddling with anything (and yes, I am secretly hoping that the Raiden-drone will be challenging the humans all the way to the end of the basho :-))

Jejima 1,415 Posted March 13, 2005 Okay... What about promotions, demotions etc? Well, the rules for this, works under the presumption of having two Juryo divisions. We only have the one :-) So, I have made a 2nd imaginary Juryo division, and an imaginary Makushita division (following the rules). Then by removing all the 'drone-drones' (not player-drones), we end up with the following. You'll note that there are still three extra places included, this is because we do not know how the drone-drones on the Juryo East side will do. They will be included in the first draft of the new banzuke (as below), and then will be removed, with all other players moving up to replace the gaps. Anyway, for your interest, here is how the positions for the MAy 2005 banzuke will be calculated.... If they are both on the East side, or both on the West side, then the original first picker of the two (ie A - H) wins.
