Female Sumo - Guardian UK

Recommended Posts

The essay part disqualifies itself with its very first sentence. As the guardian is wont to do with potentially controversial content, the commentary function is deactivated. Better not talk about stuff, when there is exactly one message to promote, eh?

Wow. I really don't think it was intended as some hard hitting, controversial exposé, just a recounting of a photo project that won an award with interesting subject matter. It was written by the photographer herself, Yulia Skogoreva, who studies and lives in Japan, so not a staffer, guessing that's why comments were off.

Originally a very similar article was published by the Tokyo Weekender in February, clearly this fitted into the Guardian's existing 'Photo Essay' / Picture-Led Storytelling section - it was all Glastonbury last week. Just another circulated article that I thought might be of interest to the odd person here. Hey ho.

What goes on in ozumo is completely irrelevant to sumo's future as a potential olympic sport

I learned a lot from this article, such that in the UK, many people have mounted not 1, not 2, not even 5, but 4! Former Phoenician cities to their cars! (I never get Tyre'd of puns :P)
