Hatsu 2022 continues the new era, with Terunofuji being the lead rikishi after the departures of Kakuryu and Hakuho. For the past six years running, we have had different rikishi win the yusho, and all six winners have been first time winners. The first five winners were veterans in their 30's, with Daieisho breaking that particular streak last year when he won in his 20's. Half of our winners were in sanyaku (2 ozeki, 1 sekiwake) while the other half were all maegashira. Also of note, should Daieisho not win the yusho, then we could have a continuing different yusho winning streak dating back to Hakuho in Hatsu 2015.

Previous yusho winners since Hatsu 2016 below:

2016 - Kotoshogiku (ozeki)
2017 - Kisenosato (ozeki)
2018 - Tochinoshin (M3)
2019 - Tamawashi (sekiwake)
2020 - Tokushoryu (M17, makujiri)
2021 - Daieisho (M1)

Please comment below the following for tiebreakers related to who you think will yusho in Hatsu 2022:

Terunofuji beats Takakeisho in a playoff. 13-2 in regulation. Losses are to Hokutofuji and Daieisho.

The race after day 12 is down to Terunofuji, Mitakeumi and Abi tied at 10-2. Kotonowaka looking from the outside in at 9-3. Nobody picked Abi :(

Asapedroryu was the only one to correctly predict that a previous yusho winner not from the Y/O would get the yusho, and even got the score and no playoff guesses correct. And 1000% score for the comment!

The outright yusho winner of this poll goes to @Asapedroryu !!!
