Churaumi 745 Posted November 7, 2021 (edited) Mitakeumi will continue to be the forever sekiwake. There are a couple future ozeki on the list but they won't make it next year. Edited November 7, 2021 by Churaumi
Hankegami 537 Posted November 7, 2021 (edited) I said Wakatakakage, mostly because he appears to me as the most convincing of the "young hopes" at the moment, also thanks to his sumo university background. I agree that Hoshoryu (and possibly also Kotonowaka) has a greater potential, but the question is when he will blossom. His Makuuchi record is still inconsistent and there is no guarantee he will be able to mature this much within a year. Well, perhaps yes, but I prefer to play safe. Wakatakakage even made last year a string of two 10+ bashos (July and September 2020) which is quite promising in the perspective of a future bid to Ozeki although it's too early to say whether he will make it at all. On the other hand, a few not-so-young hopes I cannot see raising this much, say Mitakeumi (@Churaumi docet), Meisei, and Ichinojo, have in my opinion good chances to park their bus in the Komusubi-Sekiwake boxes and ultimately resulting the highest guys of this list in January 2023 despite all. Katsunorifuji 65 Posted November 17, 2021 I voted Abi because I didn’t see Mitakeumi before I clicked submit. I think Abi will work his way back up quickly but I also don’t see Mitakeumi falling too far from where he is now. I think they’ll be neck and neck in January 2023 but give the edge to Mitakeumi.
