Maguroyama 27 Posted November 28, 2012 Just curious (and sorry if this has been answered elsewhere): when was the last time 13-2 was not enough for the yusho in Juryo?

Akinomaki 40,825 Posted November 30, 2012 I hope that Minatogawa-oyakata will be expected to offer his retirement. Would be only fair to the gyoji. Minatogawa-oyakata will not be punished and carry on with his duties till senshuraku, "anybody can make a mistake like that". The shimpan were told to raise their hands after the bout if they are not sure, the video check can be done then. Minatogawa-oyakata stood up and deeply apologized for his mistake to the oyakata before the banzuke decision conference.
Akinomaki 40,825 Posted December 1, 2012 Tospo has again something about the hinkaku of Harumafuji. On shonichi after asageiko the press was invited, Harumafuji this time answered while smoking a cigarette - not forbidden, but ... He says he is a sumo-san that has grown strong by doing keiko, but later in the basho he tended to skip the morning session, apparently because of heavy drinking. The oyakata only comments: "Absent from keiko ? He's a yokozuna and has to coordinate that by himself." To some this looks like the Asashoryu situation, where the oyakata also didn't guide the yokozuna.
yorikiried by fate 2,029 Posted December 1, 2012 Then again, former Asahifuji seems to be a sharper knife in the drawer than former Asashio. In any case he should know more about this Yokozuna-thing in general.
Washuyama 641 Posted December 2, 2012 Then again, former Asahifuji seems to be a sharper knife in the drawer than former Asashio. In any case he should know more about this Yokozuna-thing in general. I'm not even sure Asashio even owned a knife... (Sigh...) Agreed... He seems about as sharp as a bowling ball...
