Mark Buckton 1 Posted March 18, 2004 Interesting one but trivia nonetheless picked up from the good ol' Brit of Sumo - Doreen (Sigh...) on NHK. Only Ozeki's and above are allowed to wear two of the socks often seen on one foot of junior sekitori. Tape - lower still. You live and learn. :-D
Zuikakuyama 1 Posted March 18, 2004 I always see "shoes-on" wearing a single sock. (Sigh...) I would think wearing it would give you less traction. Any thoughts on this?
Tumppi 0 Posted March 18, 2004 I always see "shoes-on" wearing a single sock. :-D I would think wearing it would give you less traction. Any thoughts on this? That's what I always thought too. Let's start a feud (Sigh...)
Ryunokaze 0 Posted March 18, 2004 I always see "shoes-on" wearing a single sock. (Sigh...) I would think wearing it would give you less traction. Any thoughts on this? It would surely reduce his percieved force per area unit on that foot as the tabi will act like a sponge to a (very)small extent. It would depend on the sole as to how much traction he would loose or gain.A foot will move with-in a tabi at any rate.Barring sprigs,I doubt it helps any. It surely is not firm enough to prevent a sprain or break. I think things like strapping and tabi are mostly helpful to an athletes state of mind. Few strappings barring fingers and toes are of much use if not a hinderance. Why should this cause a feud?Wakaranai.
aderechelsea 125 Posted March 18, 2004 Chiyo seems to have problems with traction now that he bandages his leg. I doubt that he will use it again in the future. from the other hand Shuzan with no apparent injury wears that damn sock all the time....... (Sigh...) Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 18, 2004 Chiyo seems to have problems with traction now that he bandages his leg.I doubt that he will use it again in the future. He's probably not bandaging his leg just for kicks: he must be getting some benefit from it or he'd stop bandaging.
