Kintamayama 47,193 Posted February 17, 2004 (edited) Musouyama has acquired the Sekinoto name today. Current Sekinoto Oyakata (former Sekiwake Fukunoyama) will be retiring in July 2005. Musouyama held the Oonaruto name for a while, but it was then passed on to Dejima. It was believed at the time that Musouyama did not intend to go on with the Kyokai after he retires. But now, it seems Musashigawa Oyakata and others believe he has the leadership and stuff to do it. "I am relieved, now that I am sure he will remain with the heya after he retires. I hope he will be successful", said Musashigawa Oyakata. Edited February 17, 2004 by Kintamayama
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted February 17, 2004 Me (and Maguroyama) speculated a while ago who would eventually take over Musashigawa-beya (Musashigawa will be 65 2013) and Musoyama was our top choice. Maybe this is an indication Musashigawa also has introduced that possibility to Musoyama. Any thoughts?
Kashunowaka 300 Posted February 17, 2004 I think it would be great if Musoyama kept going until 2012, and then took over Musashigawa. (I am not worthy...)
furanohana 3 Posted February 17, 2004 My instinctive reaction here is : maybe is Musoyama thinking of intai, and so preparing himself for it, wether or not he finaly chose to become an oyakata. I think that if he's not able to compete in march, and thus lose his ozeki rank, he'll go intai...
Naganoyama 6,029 Posted February 17, 2004 I think it would be great if Musoyama kept going until 2012, and then took over Musashigawa. (I am not worthy...) I would even be quite pleased if he managed to continue until the end of 2004. :-)
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted February 17, 2004 (edited) I think it would be great if Musoyama kept going until 2012, and then took over Musashigawa. :-) I agree, but I don't think he relishes the idea of being in the banzuke topics as "Note: Musoyama is the first former Ozeki who has dropped all the way to the Jonidan division" :-O Edited February 17, 2004 by Yubiquitoyama
Manekineko 200 Posted February 17, 2004 Since Musashimaru shows no intention of staying on as oyakata, Musoyama is a natural second choice, no? He'd look good in the suit. :-O
