Kaikitsune Makoto 210 Posted November 3, 2003 Musashimaru did keiko again and got a harsh reviews from people. 21 bouts out of which 7 against genki Tochiazuma winning only 2 against the Tamanoi-motion machine. When Azuma attacks from the side, Maru's lower body shakes and dooms him to losses due to broken stance and balance. There is a lack of any symptoms of recovery concerning the wrist usage. Also sumo intuition is lagging in history and Maru doesn't know how to do sumo anymore. Oyakata is worried again. "No idea when sumo enters Maru again". Tones of comments were of dry state and Maru's girth doesn't make him fat from being happy these days in case he still has burning desire to be da man on the dohyo. Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 3, 2003 (edited) If it hasn't alredy been said, I'll be the first one: Musashimaru is finished. Watch him in Kyushu, cause it'll be the last time you see him in action... :-D Edited November 3, 2003 by Zenjimoto

Watch him in Kyushu, cause it'll be the last time you see him in action... :-D Dittos to Zenjimoto's opinion - I also think the big man is past it this time. Sad to see but that's just my opinion. Also, being a Tochiazuma fan - OF COURSE TOCHIAZUMA DOMINATES MARU - I'd expect nothing less. Seriously though - sad for the big guy. Given another couple of years, say 10 basho with just a few more yusho and he could have surpassed some of Takanohana's records methinks. ANR

About me being right. :-D But all signs point to ;-) Then again, I never thought Takanohana would score 12-3 in his comeback basho, either. Then again again, Musashimaru ain't no Takanohana... :-P Cheers Z.
Zuikakuyama 1 Posted November 4, 2003 Yep, there is an extremely high likelihood that he won't even complete the basho and will retire right in the middle of it.
QttP 0 Posted November 5, 2003 Then again, I never thought Takanohana would score 12-3 in his comeback basho, either. Then again again, Musashimaru ain't no Takanohana... (Laughing...) The main difference between this and Takanohana's comeback basho, is that in case of Taka we had no idea how he's gonna be - because he had nearly no training and no keiko. In case of Maru - we know he's in bad shape because of his training results and most important because of the way he looks on the dohyo. He already tried one comeback that failed miserably, so it's only natural not to be confident in his performance.
