Ossetian Yokozuna

Day 2 several pics.

Great picture!

All three ossetians have shown good sumo so far. I don't think anybody from this trio will have problems with reaching kachi-kochi!

Apart from the Ossetian power struggle, Tosanoumi really looks huuuuge these days. Almost Konishiki caliber. (I am not worthy...)

I was wondering who that was, I didn't even recognize him.

For a hurt back, Roho made his point who is Senpai, huh? I wonder if Roho will lose tomorrow from heavy lifting... (Sign of approval...) I guess I'm surprised that he can do that since they always talk about his "Bad Back!"

It did look cool, though anytime a rikishi does a tsuriage! (I am not worthy...)

It must be a reflex how the aite always kicks wildly when "tsuried", some vain attempt to find the ground, or drop the hips back down?

Always makes them look like a little angry toddler being lifted out. Even a big boy like Wakanoho (I am not worthy...)

It is the standard defense. An attempt to unbalance the attacker and get the feet replanted.

Sure, but I've never seen it work. Rather what seems more effective is to give oneself extra lift, which threatens to topple over the lifter backward. And in the moment that the attacker must rebalance, the lifted rikishi has a chance to pull himself down, though usually uncomfortably lose to the tawara.
