Kintamayama 45,556 Posted May 17, 2011 Looks like Kotooushuu may go kyujo tomorrow-the tell-tale"I will be discussing this tomorrow morning with him" uttered by Sadogatake leads me to firmly believe this. But what would be the reason given, especially in this magnified basho? Maybe circumstances will force the Bulgarian to see it through? Or, maybe he is injured. In any case.. We shall see. Sashohitowa 6 Posted May 17, 2011 For sure Kotooshu is very feeble this basho. Nothing left from his usual stability and firmness. Either he is injured (but nobody mentioned a word about that), or the miss of the March tornament has affected him quite seriously. In any case, I wish he recuperate quickly and performs on an Ozeki level in July.
Jejima 1,427 Posted May 17, 2011 I presume he would be kadoban (as per normal) if he were to withdraw? Or are there different rules for this tournament?
Asashosakari 19,688 Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) He's out and, yes, kadoban. Edit: And the blame goes to - aggravation of old injuries to his right knee, suffered when he was flung around by Okinoumi's kotenage on Day 9. (It was so powerful it ruined his first week, too...) Pippooshu 1 Posted May 18, 2011 This situation bring him a serious risk. Kotooshu is psicologically weak and suffering for Kadoban, ha risks to turn back in sekiwake status for the next basho. PS: Only for general info: I add...will be very difficult, now, to build a yaocho. The Kyokai and the special committee will be limpid, seethrough...and very careful... (Oops!) What makes you think so? Last time after he went kadoban, for example, won the yusho. This is true...but I have a little suspect, general and not specific for him. I think the yaocho scandal can change the cards on the table... (Clapping wildly...)
Skotkotaikai 2 Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) I don't think the yaocho scandal will have any effect on his performance next basho. Imo he was affected by the disaster which happened in Japan recently :> Edited May 18, 2011 by Skotkotaikai

Specialweek 0 Posted May 19, 2011 Official diagnosis: injured MCL and patellofemoral arthropathy in the right knee, requiring three weeks of rest. Is that near the heart?
Treblemaker 254 Posted May 19, 2011 Official diagnosis: injured MCL and patellofemoral arthropathy in the right knee, requiring three weeks of rest. Ok, here I have to put in my two shekel's worth... Everyone had 3+ months to heal and recover from various ailments, or get treatment needed to perform at peak levels. The only place Osh is injured is between the ears. Using the knee issue as a crutch is lame. (Puns intended.) Everyone else is putting up a half-decent effort (or so it appears). Right now, Osh couldn't beat Mrs. Osh. The only good thing about this is that by backing out, Osh avoids having his butt handed back to him on a platter by Baruto.
