Obligatory stats question: When was the last time a Makushita rikishi gave up a fusen against a Juryo guy? Or vice-versa? (And we can expand that to Makuuchi-vs-Juryo bouts as well, if inclined...)

Isn't Gojoro the top-ranked rikishi in Takanohana-beya? At this rate, it'll be

a while before Taka-oyakata is mentoring a sekitori again.

(Note: in deference to Kintamayama, no U's were added to Gojoro's name,

nor indeed to the entire message) (Feeling guilty...)

No, that would be Gokenzan. Gojoourouu (additional U added just for fun..) is a Makuuchi veteran from Magaki-beya.

And it sure looks more like Kaiho. (I am not worthy...)

Juryo-Makuuchi: Ushiomaru-Akinoshima, Natsu 2003 day 15. Akinoshima retired.

Makuuchi-Juryo: Hamanoshima-Gojoro (!), Aki 1999 day 8.

Juryo-Makushita I have no idea.

Thank you. (Laughing...) Gojoro's setting a lot of fusen-related records, isn't he?

I wouldn't know, but I remember vividly when he lost twice in the same basho for hair-pulling.

I was referring to his double-fusen last basho. (Laughing...) Along with being responsible for two cross-divisional fusen, that's quite a track record.

Juryo giving up fusen to Makushita: Sumiya-Oginishiki: Hatsu 2004, day 13. Oginishiki retired

Not particularly common. Happened before that when Higonoumi retired in 2002.11.12 giving a win to Tanaka (Kaido), plus three more times since beginning of Heisei (1989.01).

Makushita giving up fusen to Juryo: I have no idea, but it hasn't happened since 1989 at least.

Well, the "most fusenpai"-record is still a bit off. As far as I can see Gojoro is at 8 but Musoyama and Chiyonofuji have the record of 10...
