Itachi 396 Posted March 8 This is the thread for the Pick The Yusho Winners (PTYW) game for Haru 2025, thanks to Athenayama! Until further notice, the game will run just as it has the last several times. This is a pre-basho game where each player selects a rikishi from each of 8 sections of the banzuke. The player earns points for each win, each kachikoshi, and each yusho earned by their team of 8 rikishi. The sections of the banzuke are these: Sanyaku (Y through K) Maegashira Juryo Upper Makushita (Ms1-15 ) (* now including tsukedashi, if any, at these ranks) Lower Makushita (Ms16-60) (* no longer including tsukedashi from the Upper Makushita ranks) Sandanme (plus tsukedashi if any) Jonidan Jonokuchi That's it! Simple to understand, difficult to master. The hallmarks of any engaging game. Please send your 8 selections to Athenayama before the beginning of action on Shonichi. And it will all be down to who will perform better in these last two days. Hokutofuji (Flohru) or Oshoumi (Bunbukuchagama) ? Stay tuned ! Athenayama 1,080 Posted March 24 (edited) Final Standings : So, if you remember we had a duel coming up between Flohru anf Bunbukuchagama with two days left. It was who will perform better Hokutofuji or Oshoumi. Flohru probably expected Hokutofuji to bounce back in Juryo and have a good record. Unfortunately Hokutofuji is most probably at the end of his career and ended with two losses. Bunbukuchagama needed injured Oshoumi to find at least a win in these two days and he did on day 14 ! As a consequence We should know the winner of PTYW, right? BUT ......... We didn't see it coming as Torafuji came from way behind like a horse in fury and sprinted in the last two days to add wins, KK and yusho to his record and steal the win ! The Yusho goes to Torafuji. Congrats ! The Jun Yusho goes to @Bunbukuchagama and Athenayama. That said I need confirmation from @Itachi for that as I don't know if we use any tie breaker for the Jun Yusho. If there is indeed one, would the 1st tiebreaker be the Yusho winners? In that case Bunbukuchagama would be the only runner up. Please Itachi for your confirmation.
