Akinomaki 41,568 Posted Saturday at 11:03 23 hours ago, Kintamayama said: The jungyo arrived in Fukushima City today, and Sekiwake Wakatakakage, a native of Fukushima, received thunderous cheers. Aiming for promotion to Ozeki, he expressed his excitement for the coming Aki basho, saying, "I want to continue to demonstrate my strength, which is attacking from below." Though he did not do any sumo, he appeared relaxed as he entered the dohyo with his 5-year-old son for the dohyo-iri. Fukushima City Mayor Hiroshi Kohata, who spoke from the dohyo, expressed his hopes for Wakatakakage's promotion to Ozeki, and the 30-year-old prodigy commented, "I want to continue to train hard so I can live up to the cheers." A special bout was set up between him and his older brother Wakamotoharu, and the arena went crazy. Wakamotoharu expressed his gratitude for the brothers being the most popular rikishi among the joi today , "It gives me strength to have the local people cheering for me." The Yokozuna and Ozeki did not practice sumo during asageiko. Doesn't look good for Wakatakakage - after the triumphant return yesterday, he injured his ankle today, somewhere else than asageiko, and had to quit - not at the dohyo-iri and not in the bout against Kotozakura the triumphant Day 17, Fukushima, with about 2500 spectators o torikumi - first the brothers, Wakatakakage was also mage making model o o training bout with the son o o and dohyo-iri oo the brothers also did sumo with other kids o Hakuoho now 22 o o o Asakoryu is back o emoji error for the report: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJTyldjELK8
Kintamayama 46,751 Posted Saturday at 15:18 (edited) Today, Yokozuna Oonosato faced Yokozuna Houshouryuu for some head to heads- 10 consecutive matches during the Niigata tour. Oonosato finished with 4-6. Both rikishi fought without any tape or support, providing an unexpected treat for the fans in attendance. This was Oonosato's first jungyo since being promoted to Yokozuna at the Nagoya basho in July. The summer jungyo featuring both Yokozuna began on the 3rd of this month with the Osaka/Kansai Expo tour and will run until the 31st in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture. "The end is in sight. I'll work hard from now on," he said. This marks the third Yokozuna showdown, following the Asahikawa tour on the 16th and the first day of the Sapporo tour on the 17th. While Oonosato smiled as he reflected on the keiko session, Houshouryuu held his left shoulder on the dohyo, perhaps due to discomfort he felt after keiko. The head-to-head record between the two is 2-6 in favor of Oonosato Houshouryuu. As they are likely to be testing each other's minds in preparation for a rematch on the final day of Aki, it is not possible to simply assess their abilities or state of preparation from the outcome of today's matches, but it was a clash that has piqued interest in what will happen on the dohyo. I am the Yokozuna 218 Posted Sunday at 05:21 I’m still amazed at the distances the rikishi travel in a single day. This time, for example, the trip from Sapporo to Aomori is at least nine hours on the road, even more during Obon. Are there a kyokai buses or a chartered train that moves the jungyo around the country? Are the schedules adjusted to account for this? For example, in cycling, when riders travel between stages, sometimes even 500 km, the start on the following day is often delayed by an hour or so. Anyhow, hope all is good for Wakatakekage and he can compete in the Aki basho.

Kintamayama 46,751 Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Takayasu, Kirishima and Tobizaru are back on the jungyo, joining at the Kanazawa City General Gymnasium. . Takayasu had been absent since the 7th due to acute back pain. "I was unable to move (due to back pain)." He withdrew and sought treatment, and said, "I've somehow managed to get back to being able to do sumo." During keiko, he energetically lent his chest to Juryo Oushouumi (local boy) and Shirokuma, both from the same Ichimon. In particular, he gave "loving care" to Oushouumi for three minutes, repeatedly rolling him over until he was covered in sand. "He's a local hero (in Ishikawa), so I tried to liven things up.." The crowd responded accordingly. With six days remaining in the jungyo, he added, "I was doing well at the beginning (of the tour), but then the pain suddenly started..." As a native of Ibaraki Prefecture, he commented, "I'm sorry I had to miss the local tour. I'll continue to do the fundamentals properly and train while monitoring my physical condition. The most important thing is to avoid injury. I want to watch out for a relapse and see it through to the end." Kirishima had been absent since the 13th. He revealed that he injured his right wrist during a bout on tour, and that tests revealed that "the bone was cracked." Although he received treatment during his absence, he is still not fully recovered, but said, "Time has passed and I'm feeling much better. I won't push myself too hard, and I'll just do what I have to do." On the 13th day of the Nagoya tournament in July, Tobizaru submitted a medical certificate stating "subluxation of the right elbow joint, damage to the medial collateral ligament in the right elbow, and osteoarthritis of the elbow," and withdrew from the tournament. On this day, his first day back in action, he did not train, but he did take part in the bouts. Edited 1 hour ago by Kintamayama 1
