sahaven111 181 Posted April 25, 2024 According to sumodb there is no Chiyomatsu... Would anyone happen to know who this article is referring to?
Yamanashi 3,904 Posted April 26, 2024 Every article I can find says that the chef is ex-sumo, sometimes it says ex-sekitori, but none of them say his shikona was Chiyomatsu. Looking for former rikishi from Kokonoebeya and Osaka doesn't give me any clues. Oddly, there is a rikishi with a great shikona for the job -- Chiyonokatsu. Unfortunately, he's from Okinawa and still active.* *Yeah, kanji kanji kanji ...
Asashosakari 19,682 Posted April 26, 2024 (edited) Looking around, some articles give the store owner's full name as 千代松豪仁, which in turn leads to a tarento agency profile for one Hideto Chiyomatsu. The birthdate given there indicates that he's short-time Kokonoe rikishi Eguchi. And yeah, the shop was already mentioned in the appropriate thread a while ago, when it was still called Katsudon Chiyomatsu instead of its current name Osaka Tonkatsu (this post and follow-up comments). The Soranews article author apparently got confused what "former name Chiyomatsu" referred to. Edited April 26, 2024 by Asashosakari 2
