Kintamayama 47,138 Posted May 31, 2004 (edited) Tochiazuma has declared he will be entering Nagoya. He has started keiko today. "I will be entering. The pain is still bothering me a bit, but it is less than before", he said. He will be Sekiwake on the Nagoya banzuke. He needs ten wins to regain his Ozeki rank. He did some keiko with Makushita rikishi, but did not use his left hand at all. All the otsuke and holding of front of mawashi was done with his right. He has been forbidden to do teppo and push ups by his doctor. Since keiko with Sekitori for Tochiazuma is a lost episode of Star Trek at the moment, he isn't saying anything about regaining his rank-mostly, he says he'd be happy to get on the dohyo and do any Sumo at all. He is quite experienced with injuries and healing, and said , determindly-" Once I get over this, I believe good things will happen. And I do plan to do some keiko with stronger rikishi soon!". "As long as he has his "mage", he'll have to live with the pain. There is no other way", said his father and Oyakata, Tamanoi. "He can't afford to rest in Nagoya. paolo 0 Posted May 31, 2004 I 'm sorry, I did not understand well. Have the three broken bones been fixed ? If so, I can understand (in part) why they speak just about having to resist some pain, that could be due to long inactivity, to muscles not having moved / trained for a long time and so on. One nice Kotenage will probably finish him off for good (In love...) also @ Paolo - I believe the shoulderbone is cracked, not broken just cracked. He won't be able to use it effectively, won't be able to handle any strain on it by opponents, and is likely to cripple himself further. Chienoshima 0 Posted June 15, 2004 For this time in 3 months, Tochiazuma resumed training this morning (15th of June) with a sekitori. His sparring partner was the heavy Iwakiyama (172 kg), but no result so far is available. After the keiko bouts, Tochiazuma said: "I was very anxious to fight against such an heavy guy, and I was quite afraid to get injured again after eating Iwakiyama's tachi-ai. There is nothing I can do about being scared, but I have to train again with sekitori till I get completely exhausted". Chienoshima 0 Posted June 16, 2004 (edited) Actually, for his first keiko in a while with a sekitori, Tochiazuma beat up Iwakiyama with a fine 7-3 score (7 wins in 10 bouts). In spite of the fear of getting injured, Tochiazuma psyched himself up to use his favorite techinque ottsuke with his left arm. He also used dashinage techinque with his left arm. About his left shoulder, he siad : "I was scared but I felt nothing bad with my left arm". Tochiazuma planned to pratice with Iwakiyama till friday 18th of June, before his move to Nagoya on this sunday (20th of June).
