NYC Fan 1 Posted May 29, 2013 Glad to see Toyonoshima up there near the top - one reason I've always like his sumo is that he has shown that he can stir things up by beating almost anyone (although this is becoming less frequent of late...)
ALAKTORN 346 Posted May 30, 2013 What’s the specific definition of a jun-yūshō? Is it being mathematically in the race until the final day?
Benevolance 2,511 Posted May 30, 2013 I thought it's just the runner up position, regardless of how close to winning the actually were.
dingo 1,303 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I think even if the winner would have 15 and the next wrestler(s) just 11 for example, it would still be counted as a jun-yusho. Also, obviously there can be more than one jun-yushoist.
Asashosakari 19,688 Posted May 30, 2013 Yes, jun-yusho = all rikishi with the second-best record, or all playoff losers if applicable.
