The young Russian has been doing very well so far.

I was wondering, does anyone know how long he has been training in sumo? He seems to be quite skilled (though his bouts will begin to get quite tough from here on out).

Since Roho is in ozumo now, I'll move this onto Ozumo discussions from Amasumo discussions.

Do you know his mensurations ?

What do you think about Kokkai, the Georgian rikishi?

The Kyokai had him at 193 cm and 130 kg at his debut in May. I suppose he might have gained some since then, but that should be about right.

I think he's cuuuuute. ;)

Edit: Now I have more time, let me elaborate.

I've never seen him wrestle, due to my limited access to sumo (Eurosport and Web). But thanks to Hahanoyama-zeki, I have Kokkai's yusho interview on tape. I can't say which yusho and when without checking... Anyway, he could barely speak Japanese, but he was full of good will, and did his best to answer the usual questions. When asked how he decided to start sumo (no sumo in Europe, thinks the interviewer), Kokkai said how he watched sumo on Eurosport! And that inspired him to join pro-sumo. Compared to Musa, for example, we have here a pretty talkative young rikishi, unafraid of speaking in broken Japanese (I admire that). By now he must have mastered spoken Japanese, so I'm curious to hear his shin-juryo interview once he makes it into Juryo...

And he is cute, with big smile plastered all over his face (well, he did win the yusho)... Charming. I hope to see him among sekitori soon.

That's a good question. I have seen him now several times on the web stream, with more losses than wins I think. Still it is not so easy for me to answer your question.

Let me say that he hasn't really specialized on a style yet. He is rather trying to win with force, be it oshi or yotsu. His technical abilities surely can be improved.
