I hope he tries to get back into the paid ranks at least once before hanging up his mawashi. EDIT: At least he hasn't decided yet, since he is not on the list of retired... Hoshifransu 0 Posted January 29, 2003 BTW, is it the same Kakizoe as the Kakizoe who fought in the Amateur World championships, like here against Manny Yarbrough in december 1998, in Japan ?
Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted January 29, 2003 It should be the same. At least it would be a huge surprise to me if not. At the time of him going pro many thought he will rocket up the banzuke, but a whole lot of injuries threw him back. I'm glad that he didn't give up, and now he is rewarded with a Sekitori status at last. My guess is that he won't be long in Juryo (going upwards); at his age of 25 years he might have some future potential left. He is not so big with 176 cm height and 133 kg weight. Here is his scoresheet for his career record of 36-15-12. [pre] 200109 Ms15Td

They probably will be Tomikaze, Chiyotenzan and Toyozakura, or Wakatenrou with that 6-9 from Juuryou 10, though I doubt it.. Don't forget that due to Takanohana's kyujo, we have a hole to fill, hence three go down and four come up..
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted January 29, 2003 Hidenokuni (new)- Magaki-beya (Makushita West 4 4-3) Just barely kachi-koshi in Makushita, and he is going to get paid for it? Why?

And, as you of course understood, I DID forget that Takanohana's retirement opened up for an extra promotion (Blush...) But still, I think Tomikaze was kosho, so the demotees should be Chiyotenzan, Toyozakura, and sadly, Daizen. I definitely think he has a worse seat than Wakatenro. Of course, if Tomikaze did not have public injury, he will go down instead of Daizen.

I guess he gets juryo salary for a while again without even participating in any bouts before getting dumped by banzuke committee by oichomagekirurite (Xmas...) QttP 0 Posted January 29, 2003 Is this final? If so, then I'm quite surprised and disappointed they didn't promote Kokkai. Strange that they value 4-3 at Ms4 more than 6-1 and yusho at Ms6. Maybe they wanna double check Kokkai after him going 2-5 when he was at Ms1, by putting him once more against a couple sekitori before making him one. Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted January 29, 2003 I too have to say that the Kyokai page stated clearly a kosho (at least the Japanese, probably the English too). He started Kyushu with 5-0 and finished 5-2, so he could well have had an injury in the last bout.
Kaikitsune Makoto 210 Posted January 29, 2003 Sorry. That didn't come to my mind. He must have injured himself in his kakenage-loss against Kakizoe at his 7th bout in Kyushu. There was a comment on Tomikaze on some news article before Hatsu but it must have been just a statement he is injured already and has been. Gomen.
