yamaneko 2 Posted September 18, 2007 hochiyama - kitazakura. It was hard to tell on the stream and i wasnt paying attention. Was it jikan mae? I remember in the 80's and 90's there seemed to be more jikan maes. The only ones i recall in the last couple of years is kitazakura.
Hananotaka 8 Posted September 18, 2007 Indeed it was. And a welcome sight it was! It seems that back when I was watching in the late 90s, there'd be a jikan-mae every couple basho or so. But now with all the shenanigans and matta going on at the tachiai, I despaired of ever seeing another one again.
yamaneko 2 Posted September 18, 2007 very nice. Despite their struggles, this is why sumo needs the kitazakuras and the takamisakaris of the world. They keep things interesting and different. We lost shuzan already. It was fun to watch what was pretty much the last consistent stare down in makuuchi (shuzan/takamisakari)

Yes, I think I remember reading about a comment he made. One of Jonosuke's Rikishi Talk reports mentioned that he has one rival that gets him so fired up they usually go jikan-mae. Jakusotsu 6,394 Posted September 19, 2007 Seems like Kitazakura doesn't really want to do the big salt anymore... B-)
Bishonohana 0 Posted September 19, 2007 I guess that depends on how much salt you're talking about.... (In a state of confusion...) The WHOLE bucket?? (Shaking head...) (In a state of confusion...) I think he throws WAY more than his share of the salt! I love it!! (Shaking head...)
