  2. 2. What are the prospects?

    • Sure he will, and he'll start with Hatsu Basho 2007.

    • Isn't that required before he becomes Yokozuna? Then I answer YES.

    • He might win 2 or 3 but he'll never string 2 together (or Yokozuna-worthy equivalent . . .)

    • Assuming his career lasts, we're bound to have a basho with Yokozunae Asashoryu and Hakuho both kyujo, right?

    • I wouldn't put money on it . . . so no.

credit where credit is due

So will he or won't he? If you feel strongly, please expound . . . I would love to see him regain his momentum, and I believe he has at least one yusho in him if he snaps out of his gloomy self-absorbed uh whatever it is he's absorbed in lately. He was fun to watch before the sudden weight gain.

[final choice was originally Kintamayama's response to: "Can Ama Make Ozeki?"]

We can keep this one running until Yogurt retires (Eh?)

I say no, I see him doing amazing on some days of the basho and then stumbling around again. I have no hope for a yusho, although I am a Sadogatake fan. I would rather see Kotomitsuki or Kotoshogiku win the cup than Kotooshu.

I don't have the impression that he is ambitious enough, but I maybe terribly wrong and I would love to be and see him win at least one basho.

I estimate that he will retire with about 7 to 9 titles

Hmmm, does this mean you see him as a yokozuna, or will he win titles sporadically over a long career?

Personally, I don't see it. I think he might grab one or two, but just as easily I see him fade a little, never quite realising the early promise that he showed.

I see 2-5 yusho over his career. I think he's good enough to get lucky a few times with a hot streak, but not consistent enough. If Kisenosato becomes an Ozeki, then I lean more towards the 2 yusho side.

he'll yusho sometime (maybe when the current Ozeki retire and he will feel leader of the pack) but not more than 3 times.

this is based on current form and competition levels ... things change though.

Niet.

Uwatenage is not enough...otherwise his Shisho would have had Yusho, sadly he didn't.

Seems more likely than not, if he remains an Ozeki he is bound to win at least 1 (2 or 3 seems feasable.)
