Kintamayama 47,116 Posted July 1, 2003 Kotimitsuki passed checkups on his injuries at a hospital in Nagoya, and has received a green light to enter Nagoya. Biiig surprise, especially for us gamers, if he does enter.. --
Dejimasama 0 Posted July 1, 2003 (In a state of confusion...) Go Koto! Man can you imagine the show he is going to put on at his rank if he is healthy and doesnt have much ring rust. Potential for a yusho.
Zentoryu 154 Posted July 1, 2003 Potential for a yusho. I wouldn't go that far. As far as I know he's hardly had any training. I just hope he's not making a huge mistake born from his desperation to keep his rank. (In a state of confusion...)
Dejimasama 0 Posted July 1, 2003 I was saying if he was healthy and didnt have much ring rust. Do you think that if he is capable of performing as he did when he was a sekiwake that he couldnt contend for yusho considering he is at the bottom of Maegeshira? Fujisan 533 Posted July 1, 2003 Yes but wont he be pitted against higher level oponents if he scores high in his earlier bouts-Thats how its supposed to be worked isnt it? Anyway as a Mickey fan I hope he does have a great basho but I wouldnt like to put money on him-To many unknown factors.
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted July 1, 2003 (edited) I really think noone doubts Mickey could be in the yusho hunt when ranked low and in perfect health... I mean, the guy has done it once and is not that much older now. I and everyone else doubts he IS in good enough health though... I really hope that if he enters he does so because he feels he's fit enough, not that the prospect of Juryo is so horrific to him that he's willing to sacrifice everything. Although I suppose it might be a signal to the Kyokai who intends to abolish kosho to solve the injury problem (In a state of confusion...) Although I mock the Kyokai I must agree that it's quite a classical solution to problems most of us use from time to time: If I jump off the cliff I'm bound to be so pressured to learn to fly before hitting the ground that I will ;-) Not that it's smarter because everone does it... Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted July 1, 2003 It must be a difficult choice for him, knowing the potential for more serious injurt is there. Perhaps career-ending injury. That potential is always present for any athlete. I hope he has a good tournament and stays healthy... (In a state of confusion...)
Zentoryu 154 Posted July 1, 2003 (edited) I was saying if he was healthy and didnt have much ring rust. Do you think that if he is capable of performing as he did when he was a sekiwake that he couldnt contend for yusho considering he is at the bottom of Maegeshira? I agree with you, if he is healthy and without ring rust, he would have to be considered a Yusho threat from this level. You infered in your initial post that you thought this was going to happen now. Man can you imagine the show he is going to put on at his rank That's what I responded to as I don't think he is healthy enough to put on any kind of show, much less contend for a Yusho. Of course, he could shock us all, ala Takanohana in Aki last year, and rack up 12 wins. But I just don't think that will happen. So I apologize if I misunderstood your meaning. Dejimasama 0 Posted July 2, 2003 No problem at all, it is all just good natured banter. (In a state of confusion...)
