I've been living in Japan since July 2008 -- 3 years in Okinawa and the remainder at my current location. Casual curiosity about sumo by occasionally watching matches on TV has given way to serious interest since the fall of 2011. I became a fan of Baruto when I attended the Jan 2012 basho in Tokyo and he won his first yusho. Being new to the sport, all rikishi who are moving up through the ranks or otherwise making a splash have captured my attention: Kakuryu, then Kyokutenho, Myogiryu and Harumafuji. I got to see a lot of them up close and personal at the 2012 summer exhibition.
