amgaa99 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Are you fan of Mongolian sekitories? If yes, please write your opinion about Ashoshyoru, Kekutenho, Kekushyuzan, Asasekiry, Hakuho, Tokitenku, and Ama. These are Mongolians. What are you think, Can Tokitenku become maegashira in July?
Elenrian 0 Posted May 27, 2004 As far as I am concerned, I like most of the mongolian wrestlers, except Kyokushuzan. I haven't seen Tokitenku and Ama yet, and only few fights with Hakuho, so I cant say if I like them or not. I don't like Shuzan, because he moves back very often, and wins most of the time by hatakikomi or hikiotoshi!!! It is...BOOOO-RING (Blowing up furiously...) , and unfair for the opponend (Sign of disapproval) !! I don't mind Kyokutenho, he is quite "usual". At the contrary, I am marvelled at Asashoryu's and Asasekiryu's techniques! (Ranting...) These techniques are really unusual and unexpected, and so original! Certainly the "mongolian touch"! (Tears forming...) (Pulling hair...) Concerning Tokitenku, he is only J10, so I don't think it is enough to go to maegashira next july, even if he made an excellent basho last may... I think he will be J2 or 3 next basho, then he will be promoted next september, if he makes a good Nagoya Basho.
Phelix 0 Posted May 27, 2004 It certainly would be fun to see Tokitenku come July already, but (Pulling hair...) I think we
QttP 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Asashoryu - never liked him, never will, but he's there, and he's great. Kyokutenho - he's rather gray, not very exciting, a good sanyaku-meat grinder elevator, can beat the tough guys, rarely loses against the low rankers. Overall: one of the many good sumotori around. Kyokushuzan - ever so funny. I cheer for him in every bout he has (except the rare occasions where he faces Taikai), but naturally don't get too disappointed when he loses. He's a solid maegashira rikishi, fun to watch, can be very strong, but usually seems to just be playing around in the ring, earning his bread in the process. Asasekiryu - indifferent Hakuho - I will cheer against him in any bout, at least in the near future. Tokitenku - still not clear. He seems to have potential, as he already has 4 yusho under his belt. I expect him to be in Makuuchi, if not in July, then by the end of the year. Then we'll see what he's really made of. Ama - I really don't know anything about him. Kashunowaka 300 Posted May 27, 2004 Â I don't like Shuzan, because he moves back very often, and wins most of the time by hatakikomi or hikiotoshi!!! It is...BOOOO-RING (Jumping in ecstasy...) , and unfair for the opponend (Sign of disapproval) !! Kyokushuzan has his ups and downs ... I have been mostly annoyed with his sumo during the last couple of years. But you can't complain about Kyokushuzan's effort in Natsu basho. He started out as usual, with bad sumo. On day 6 he faced Shimotori. I think someone must have swapped brains on Shimotori and Kyokushuzan and left them there for a week or so, because Shimotori suddenly went bad and lost 8 in a row, while Kyokushuzan started to do really good, traditional sumo and went 8-2 during the rest of the basho. If Shuzan keeps doing that kind of sumo, I don't see any reason to complain. (I am not worthy...)
aderechelsea 125 Posted May 27, 2004 i would like to add that he is not winning just with hatakikomi or hikiotoshi all the time. He has used , from time to time, very unusual techniques. He just doesn't believe in his strengh and prefers to use his opponents momentum and win by a trip or something. His sumo (when performed well) is very fun ...... go Shuzan.....
Lucius Flavonius 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Yes, Tokitenku will be transferred to J1 more likely. Then he can win minimum 10-5 and get into makuuchi in Aki. I was really amazed how fast H
Jesinofuji 11 Posted May 28, 2004 At J1 he could get into Makuuchi with 8-7. Possibly even with an 8-7 from J2, J3 or with banzuke luck, even from J4.
amgaa99 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I have listened about Tokitenku that he will became maegashira. Asashoyru said this news when he visited in Mongolia three days ago.
hoshidango 0 Posted May 29, 2004 Ashashyoru Have an one sided love-hate feeling for him; heroically strong <-> too strong. His manneristm sometimes bothers me. Kyoutenho I feel his Jiriki but rather boring to watch. Kyokushuzan HE IS MY MAN- I like pretty much anything he does and he is. Almost always have laugh watching his bouts(same for Kitazakura), I just like him. Asasekiryu I have not paid enough attention. Somehow escape my mind. Hakuho Very talented- ultra flexible/slippery. Probably he will start demonstrating power later- then he would be a serious threat to everyone. Tokitenku Looking forward to his entering makuuchi. Liked his Ashiwazas etc last basho. Ama Rather indifferent
Jesinofuji 11 Posted May 29, 2004 My list: Asashoryu: Is the reason Sumo is interesting. His amazing display of versitility and power bring Sumo a champion it has not seen in a long time. He was my favorite since he was a Maegashira. Think of what sumo would be like now if there was no Asashoryu. Kyoutenho: indifference. His Sumo is not particularly interesting to watch. But he is good enough to beat anyone on a good day, and that in itself makes many of his matches against Ozeki fun. Kyokushuzan: has-been. He used to be one of the most interesting Rikishi, but no longer. Now I see him losing in ways that make me wonder if he's even trying. That is even less entertaining that 3 mattas followed by a henka+hatakikomi. Asasekiryu: I like how a man as small as him works his way down, as low as I've ever seen in sumo, and fights a mawashi battle while slapping and grabbing for legs. I think this is a positive addition to Makuuchi. Also he's Asashoryu's stablemate and kouhai. Hakuho: I didn't watch many of his juryou matches. His rise quick through the ranks is very impressive. His Sumo is excellent, and I see him rising to Sanyaku and even Ozeki or higher. After the way he gave Asashoryu his fighting chance on senshuraku, and how he helped me in Sumo games, he has earned another fan. Tokitenku: One of my favorite shikonas. All I can say is Nimaigeri. He's put on some of the most spectacular finishes I've seen. This guy fights till the bitter end, sometimes snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. I see him rising at least to sanyaku. Asashoryu's childhood judo rival. Ama: Small. Everyone likes to see David beat Goliath. He has the skills to be in makuuchi where were sure to see him defeating much larger opponents. Lucius Flavonius 0 Posted May 31, 2004 The following wrestlers are not sekitori, but they pertain to Mongolians. Sokokurai from China is an ethnic Mongolian from Inner Mongolia. Orora from Russia is a Buryat, a kinsfolk of Mongolians.
